The person in this position participates in underwriting accounts by gathering, synthesizing and clearly presenting all specific account information to underwriting to decide on the risk.   - Gather underwriting information to properly evaluate commercial risks for acceptability within company guidelines. Underwrite for profit. - Research and solve more complicated problems and make decisions with supervision of underwriter or manager. - Review and summarize claims and loss information on individual risks and take the appropriate action. - Determine coverage and pricing options for routine commercial risks for underwriters. - Determine if a risk fits within the guidelines. - Identify unfavorable risk characteristics and take the appropriate underwriting action as directed. - Maintain quality and time standards as established. - Stay informed and knowledgeable about current industry issues and activities. - Draft quotes for underwriters based on individual risk characteristics. - Issue quotes, declinations and other communications to brokers. - Perform other duties as assigned.

Working under general supervision and in collaboration with the Vela Marketing Management team, WRBC Marketing, the Marketing Coordinator performs a wide variety of administrative and marketing support duties related to the daily operations of the marketing department.   - Supports CMO and Executive team in the execution of Marketing & Distribution strategy and initiatives. - Assists CMO and Executive team in coordinating various communications and marketing activities.  - Coordinates and produces marketing and communications collateral. - Supports in the coordination of Vela’s social media strategy. - Executes a diverse array of details that involve email broadcast, trade shows and events, customer communications, media advertisements, promotions, internal communications, and Vela website and intranet. - Assists with maintaining Vela’s customer relationship management tool. - Help coordinate meetings and other events during industry conferences. - Continually updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and application in the Vela environment. - Coordinates with employees to maintain current information for business cards, professional photos, designations for use on company website, intranet, marketing collateral and external communications. - Other duties as assigned.

To evaluate (selection and pricing) and maintain (control) risk acceptability and profitability within the company’s underwriting guidelines and procedures for commercial risks with a focus on non-admitted General Liability for middle market construction risks. Manage and maintain good Wholesale Broker relationships. Meet and maintain the production, profitability, and service standards established for the company.   - Adhere to underwriting authority level as per on file with Manager. - Gather underwriting information to properly evaluate commercial risks for acceptability within company guidelines. Underwrite for profit. - Meet/Exceed production, profitability, and service targets. - Ability to research and solve more complicated problems and make decisions. - Determine final coverages and pricing for commercial risks. - Review claims and loss information on individual risks. Use this information to identify and re-evaluate accounts and develop strategy for dealing with exposures and frequency issues. - As a team with the Manager, manage the portfolio profitability and identify favorable and unfavorable classes of business. - Maintain quality and time standards as established. - Be informed/knowledgeable of industry issues and activities through formal educational processes to develop underwriting skills. - Identify and cultivate brokers with new business opportunities. - Perform other duties as assigned.

Must be capable of working under limited supervision and working with a remote manager.   In this role, the claims professional investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and resolves litigated and non-litigated property damage, personal and advertising injury, and claims of high exposure and complexity with significant experience/Focus on specialized claims in the area of construction defect with complex coverage and litigated claims.     - Analyze coverage, identify coverage issues, and prepare coverage letters for supervisor approval. - Investigate and evaluate liability. - Investigate and evaluate damages. - Manage litigation by assigning counsel from the approved panel where applicable, establish litigation plan and budget, coordinate with defense counsel, and continuously review the potential for resolution. - Establish timely reserves within authority and re-evaluate throughout the life of the claim. - Maintain up-to-date, appropriate file documentation and written file notes. - Maintain an active diary and productive file inventory. - Timely completion of all required large loss reporting. - Negotiate settlements within authority limit granted, and attend mediations, Mandatory Settlement Conferences, and/or Alternative Dispute Resolutions. - Proactively control the work product and expense of outside vendors. - Develop and maintain positive customer relationships and provide superior customer service. - Timely identify all potential opportunities for co-insurance, transfer of risk and/or subrogation. - Ability to Work with designated assigned accounts. - Recognize and investigate fraud.

As a strategic partner, the HR Manager works with the Vice President of Human Resources (VP HR) and Operating Unit Leadership to align and support the VP HR with the execution of the talent strategy and operating unity strategic initiatives. This role works closely with Leadership and Group HR to consult, provide advice and guidance as it relates to talent-related activities including but not limited to: recruitment and selection, staff retention, performance management, talent development, compensation planning and employee relations. 

This position will develop, grow, and maintain a book of business for an assigned territory; and include additional responsibilities that assist the Underwriting Leadership in the overall execution of the strategy for the segment. Products include: Primary and Excess Professional Liability, including related primary General Liability and Cyber coverages.       Responsibilities also include the performance management of team members to achieve both individual and team goals.  Based on the individual skill set of team members, the Team Lead will mentor, coach as needed to oversee broker and portfolio management to achieve the profitable growth required by the company.    - Adhere to underwriting authority level as per on file with Manager for self and team members. - Ensure that the team gathers underwriting information to properly evaluate commercial risks for acceptability within company guidelines.
