Utilizes help desk call tracking and problem resolution software and thoroughly documents problem resolution.  Resolves issues utilizing excellent customer service skills, problem solving skills, technical thinking/reasoning skills, and a high level of individual judgment to ensure outcomes of customer satisfaction.    Primary Duties & Responsibilities: - Knowledge of PC/laptop hardware, Windows OS (Windows 7, Windows 10); MS Office Products and mobile devices. - Working knowledge of Active Directory and AD group policies. - Knowledge of desktop inventory and software automation tools (SCCM-Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager & Software Delivery). - Understanding of patch management (SCCM) - Knowledge of MAC OSX - Familiar with anti-virus tools and consoles - Installing hardware and software systems on desktops and laptops - Working knowledge of Desktop automation tools such as RES Workspace Manager a real plus. - Liaise with technical services company to resolve problems involving core applications. - Trains other Desktop team members on the best practice solutions, etc. - Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of major desktop software applications and networking concepts. Position Summary The Middleware and Financial Engineering Manager position is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the engineering support of the Middleware and Financial applications supported by BTS.  This includes oversight of back end support, care and security of existing Middleware and Financial applications as well as extending use of those applications and design and implementation of new applications.  The manager will work closely with other Shared Services teams, application teams and business units to meet support and project goals.  The position is also responsible for managing the staff on both Middleware and Financial Engineering teams. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: - Overseeing a complicating environment of standalone and clustered application servers including design, build and implementation of systems in accordance to requirements and standards.   Improve upon existing system designs and automate processes. - Build, manage and develop a team of Middleware engineers including hiring, mentoring, and performance appraisals.  - Ensure team is trained properly and is current on Middleware and Financial Application support product trends and innovations. - Maintain the portfolio management system accurately to reflect the priorities of the team, also acting or supplying a project manager for team related projects as needed. - Create and adhere to a yearly budget for team and providing estimates for projects. - Provide vendor management for all Middleware and Financial App related vendors including working with Finance on support contracts. - Oversee creation and maintenance of related roadmaps for each team and supported technologies and strategic direction. - Ensure each team has proper tools for its administration, monitoring and reporting tasks and that they are being used for providing key metrics and capacity planning. - Coordinating critical issue resolution as required. - Assist with providing Middleware related technologies for disaster recovery and high availability and ensure they are properly used and tested according to business requirements. - Off-hours work (evening, weekend) as required by change control procedures and priorities. - Majority of time is spent reviewing and implementing multi-year strategies for individual teams, systems, or projects. - 70% or less time is focused within directly managed teams. - Directs work at an objective / goal level across a small number of teams through formal authority. - Travel to BTS Datacenter site and company sites as requested.
