The Underwriter is a member of our Express Account underwriting team. Our Express Account team underwrites accounts across all of our business segments with varying degrees of complexity. Accounts typically range in size from $10,000 to over $100,000 in premium.   The role’s primary responsibility will be to underwrite accounts. In addition, you will contribute to our underwriting direction, evaluate profitability with underwriting leaders, collaborate with our technology teams on product enhancements and analyze data with actuaries. You will also have the opportunity to contribute and explore new insurance products and new business segments as Intrepid continues to grow and evolve.   Key functions include but are not limited to: - Underwrite accounts per letter of authority - new and renewal - Profitably underwrite their assigned book of business - Develop a strong understanding of Intrepid’s Brand Strategy/Underwriting Appetite to allow them to quickly make decisions about pricing and determine acceptable risk characteristics - Work closely with technology teams to create underwriting efficiencies - Contribute to the refinement of underwriting processes and workflows - Gain deep expertise in our targeted business segments - Support Underwriting Manager and VP of Underwriting on projects and product development - Collaborate with our sales, client services, and technology teams to enhance the customer experience - Execute underwriting strategy and follow established underwriting guidelines - Contribute to the innovative processes at IDI

Intrepid Direct is looking for a motivate Software Engineer Intern to join our team for a 12-week period. This position will learn about our engineering SDLC process, assist with daily production support items, learn about unit and integration testing, and contribute enhancements to our codebase. As part of the internship, you will be paired up with one of our cross functional engineering teams. This team will teach you the ends and outs of how an engineering team functions and how technology helps support insurance operations.   Key functions include but will not be limited to: - Plan work assignments with assigned team members. - Collaborate with team to work on well-defined technical tasks. - Debug and troubleshoot technical issues. - Assist with implementation of features with existing applications. - Contribute to additional development tasks, including UI, API, and database integrations. - Create and update unit and integration tests. - Manage code changes using Git. - Participate in code reviews.

Intrepid Direct is looking for a motivated Quality Engineer Intern to join our team for a 12-week period. This role will directly contribute to our manual and automation testing initiatives. As part of this internship, you will be paired up with a quality engineer to learn how to review requirements, write test cases, validate code changes, and conduct regression testing.   Key functions include but are not limited to: - Learn the ins and outs of a quality engineer. - Learn how to use Postman for API testing. - Convert manual test cases to automated tests using Playwright. - Execute test scripts from our automated smoke and regression test suites. - Participate in refinement and planning meetings to understand upcoming changes and impacts they may have on existing test cases. - Execute manual scripts and document the results accurately. - Develop manual test cases from acceptance criteria. - Learn to investigate, isolate, and track technical issues using automated and manual testing methodologies. - Follow existing documented processes and look for more efficient ways to accomplish desired outcomes. - Ability to concisely document and explain effects found. - Work with other team members to report and escalate blockers. - Participate in test case peer reviews. - Assumes other tasks and duties as assigned by management.

The Chief Underwriting Officer is responsible for the underwriting function at Intrepid Direct. This executive leader will be in charge of underwriting profitability and leading/developing the underwriting department for success. The role requires experience, analytical curiosity, and decision-making ability. This includes executive level business planning, developing team members, forecasting, industry risk selection, and guidance in insurance industry affairs in all states.   Key functions include but are not limited to: - Lead portfolio decisions through analytical insights making for profitable underwriting outcomes. - Provide high-level leadership, expertise and guidance in underwriting and insurance matters. - Collaborate with actuarial team to evaluate current and future industries to assure correct loss costs are utilized. - Participate as a member of the executive team in the development of business strategies; including working together to make critical decisions affecting risk, profitability in all current and future verticals, and growth of the business unit. - Responsible for the development, execution, and monitoring of underwriting action plans to achieve targeted growth, retention, and profitability goals of both our large account division and our small account division. - Lead the assessment and implementation of ongoing process improvements in the underwriting department as technologies and business models evolve. - Develop and manage relationships with sister companies, W. R. Berkley, reinsurers, and vendors. - Identify employees for promotional opportunities and create development plans to prepare them for their next step within the organization. - Ensure high level of teamwork, mutual respect, and customer service mindset exists within the underwriting team. - Ensure department is well informed of business matters consistent with Intrepid Direct values. - Resolve performance issues consistent with company policy. The Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for developing and delivering accurate and timely information to stakeholders across the organization. This role will have the opportunity to work across levels and disciplines to identify and execute opportunities for data-driven improvements by rapidly evolving our data and reporting infrastructure.   Key functions include but are not limited to: - Independently or in collaboration with others, gather requirements for reports and data extracts. - Comfortable working with a variety of data sources and structures. - Map and conform data between multiple data sources as required to respond to data requests. - Descriptive Analysis - Applies business logic to raw data to create business information for reporting and decision making. - Visualize data and KPIs using Power BI - Create and maintain SSRS reports - Create and maintain SQL queries for reporting. - Execute ad-hoc reporting on behalf of the business community - Respond to urgent data/reporting needs effectively. - Assist in defining measurements, metrics and KPIs to use data to drive the business forward. - Diagnostic Analysis - Creates ad-hoc SQL for analysis and investigation. - Identify, document and collaborate with other teams to resolve issues pertaining to data quality in source systems. - Responsible for meeting deadlines for outstanding data requests, including recurring data needs for internal and external audiences. - Interacts and effectively collaborates with all levels of employees across various departments. - Must exhibit professional behavior at all times while representing the company.
