Adjust claims as assigned, to perform all claim duties associated with the investigation, evaluation, litigation management and resolution of all claims assigned. Caseload will have a heavy emphasis on litigated claims. - Understands and can apply coverage for the claims assigned. Issues appropriate RORs and disclaimers. - Conducts the necessary investigation, either by phone, or through independent adjusters, to determine coverage, liability and damages. - Evaluates, negotiates, and settles assigned claims within authority granted, or seeks authority for those claims in excess of authority. Files assigned will consist of coverage dispute complex claims and litigation including high severity General Liability, Professional Liability, Abuse or Molestation, Transportation, catastrophic injury and premises bodily injury and property damage. - Assigns and actively directs independent adjusters as well as defense attorneys. Complies with litigation management guidelines. - Keeps claim files maintained in a consistent and organized manner, diaries are kept current, and reserves are constantly assessed for adequacy throughout the life of the claim. - Complies with reinsurance and client reporting guidelines. - Issues loss and expense payments properly and on a timely basis. - Attends settlement conferences and mediations. - Reviews and recommends attorneys for approved attorney panel. - Occasional travel may be out of town requiring overnight stay.   May perform other functions as assigned

Responsible for maintenance and continuous improvement of the Berkley Human Services marketing platform.  Manage department projects, research and track sales data, maintain promotional materials inventory, plan/coordinate meetings and events and maintain databases. Create and manage marketing communication plan. Manage all contracting processes and implement continuous improvement. - Manage and leverage Salesforce and associated applications. - Use Adobe Suite to create in-house marketing materials. - Create innovative marketing campaigns and present the recommendations to management. - Write and edit promotional literature, newsletters, direct marketing and internet marketing projects. Must work effectively as part of the team to communicate, coordinate, and integrate marketing and apply best-in-class practices to all efforts. - Provide practical marketing and communication expertise across all networks/channels/genres on both specific initiatives and a variety of ad-hoc projects. Provide Project Management as needed. - Investigate the performance of a company’s marketing campaigns and strategies through evaluating key performance metrics. - Collaborate with various departments to come up with branding ideas, graphic designs, promotional materials and advertising copies. - Discover effective marketing and promotional channels, to be used to relay product messages to customers. - Provide continuous marketing support for existing agencies and programs. Manage communications internally and externally around such programs. - Develop write, and communicate marketing plans, promotional recaps, briefs, project recommendations and presentations. Provide campaign analytics reports as required. - Help develop training information to include videos, virtual classrooms, webinars, etc. - Consult and assist other Berkley Operating Units with projects as needed. Berkley Human Services is seeking a highly accomplished, customer service-oriented claims counsel to deliver superior claim results through the thoughtful execution of best practices in managing high exposure and complexity. These include professional liability, sexual abuse and high-exposure personal injury claims. This individual is expected to exercise significant judgment but will work within a highly collaborative team that most enjoys the problem-solving aspects of our work. - Investigate assigned claims through application of defined best practices. Actively develop information on reported claims, including specific facts of case, nature and extent of injury, standard of care and causation defenses, venue specific factors and other characteristics that impact claim severity. - Evaluate information obtained through claim investigations and estimate damage ranges for purposes of prompt identification of claims with potential excess exposure; apply ongoing triage rules to determine proper severity and assignment levels. - Directly manage and actively intervene on the most technically complex and highest severity claims within company inventory. - Timely recognize and evaluate claim exposures to establish accurate case reserves. - Execute effective claim adjudication strategies/tactics to help achieve optimal outcomes on exposures within and in excess of account retentions. - Cultivate strong business relationships with key personnel within current accounts, brokerage community, and law firms across the country. - Maintain effective working relationships with Underwriting, Risk Management, and Actuarial partners. - Aid in the development and modification of claim management practices, policies and procedures in furtherance of continuous process improvement culture. - Assist Underwriting and Actuarial in risk selection and pricing accuracy through claim due diligence for new and renewal business. - Utilize customer service skills with client contacts to advance business opportunities: - Identify service needs for claim, risk management and data mining strategy; - Understand renewal strategy; - Extend discussion with client beyond claim transaction and toward potential needs not immediately recognized by the decision maker; - Communicate effectively with team members. - Develop, or assist with development, of claims marketing content and utilization of content for marketing purposes. - Serve as mentor for claims associates and claims specialists; provide technical advice - Work with other departments on special projects or assignments - Maintain all State licensing requirements   May perform other functions as assigned.

The Senior Actuarial Analyst role supports pricing, reserving, and modeling.   The Senior Actuarial Analyst will help identify and lead projects and recommend necessary enhancements and changes to existing actuarial processes and analytical methods, help identify changing market and operating conditions and enable the Actuarial function to contribute most effectively to the operating company’s financial success.   The role supports the Chief Actuary by performing specific reviews, analyses - working with Underwriting, Claim and Finance Departments on trends and metrics, and performing due diligence analysis for updates to reports and models and new products.   - Collect, scrub, and analyze data for various reporting function duties. - Provide recommendations based on recurring and ad hoc Actuarial projects. - Improve and enhance loss reserving diagnostics and reserve analysis tools. - Complete and streamline line of business trend and pricing studies. - Maintain large account pricing models. - Assist in rate analysis and reporting. - Measure, monitor, and communicate progress of project(s) at clearly defined points in the process to ensure that the project(s) is delivered on time, and it meets or exceeds expectations. - Maintain focus on key objectives and manages unit workflow to accomplish completion of complex actuarial projects, removing obstacles as necessary. - Deliver multiple projects concurrently and adjust to changing priorities.  May perform other functions as assigned.
