The CFO is a key member of the Senior Leadership team and is responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial related activities for Berkley Oil & Gas.The incumbent directs the accounting, financial reporting, information analysis, expense monitoring, annual statement process, and planning/forecasting functions to assist each operating unit to achieve financial success. Develops and implements financial and accounting controls and ensures compliance with prescribed internal and external standards and is a key participant in the strategic business planning process.
- Provides leadership in the development and continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
- Directs the development and implementation of cost-effective financial reporting and accounting activities.
- Formulates effective financial oversight and internal accounting standards that comply with company and regulatory requirements.
- Contributes to the achievement of business objectives through the accurate and timely identification and resolution of accounting issues/opportunities.
- Provide executive management with advice and analysis on the financial implications of business activities.
- Directs the monthly reporting process and delivers accurate/timely monthly reports through effective utilization of all management information tools to optimize revenue and minimize financial exposure.
- Manage and direct the expense and general ledger process.
- Monitors financial transactions to ensure that expenses are in line with company expenses and profit objectives and are consistent with company policies.
- Drives innovation, including taking advantage of automation opportunities and new ways to streamline and make processes more efficient.
- Development of direct and indirect reports in both behavioral and job skills is crucial and a key component of the position. This includes regular career aspiration discussions.
- Responds to all activities related to corporate accounting/reporting requirements.
- Ensures that effective internal controls are in place and ensures compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting. Provides high-level analysis and recommendations for corrective action as necessary.

Provide quality investigation and analysis to adjust Workers’ Compensation claims to proper conclusion. Generally, works independently, handling claims that vary in complexity from inception to end. Represents and advances the success of the organization through their relationships with agents and policyholders.
- Conduct complete investigation of losses through appropriate techniques including interviews, recorded statements, documentation/data gathering and securing/preserving evidence.
- Evaluate compensability and exposure; identify subrogation opportunities or suspicious claims. Prepare timely, concise reports and state filings as required by the jurisdiction. Promptly establish and maintain accurate reserves. Adhere to state regulatory compliance requirements.
- Verify, analyze, and correctly apply coverage.
- Demonstrate appropriate use of Peer Reviews, Retrospective Reviews, Utilization Review and other cost containment tools to effectively manage the indemnity and medical exposure.
- Develop strategy and negotiate claims to a timely conclusion, properly applying state compliance and company policies and procedures. Develop a resolution plan (e.g. pay, deny, dispute) based upon analysis of the facts, defenses, compensability, and statutory/case law.
- Determine need for and provide direction to defense counsel, nurse case managers or other technical experts. Monitor and control their costs. Attend mediations, hearings, pre-trial settlement conferences, trials, etc., as required.
- Keep policyholders, underwriting and agents advised of file status and other matters as required.
- Participation in presentations, meetings, or visits to agents, policyholders, prospective accounts and other groups related to claims resolution, service or technical issues.
- Successfully complete relevant continuing education as required.
A qualified candidate for our Sr. Renewable Energy Account Executive position will have experience and expertise in the duties and qualifications outlined below. Candidate will also have experience working with a team to help achieve business unit objectives.
- Accountable for the profitable management of a casualty book of business, including the underwriting of new and renewal accounts consistent with business unit appetite and underwriting guidelines.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with brokers and agents, and will be responsible for managing agency profitability.
- Marketing responsibilities for their assigned territories, including strategic growth initiatives.
- Possess strong understanding of policy language and coverage interpretation, contractual risk transfer analysis, loss analysis and underwriting compliance.
- Extensive collaboration across the organization with risk services, claim, actuarial, finance/accounting, and IT required.
- This position will be required to travel as needed to maintain strong relationships with agents and customers.
Premium Auditor is responsible for examining an Insured´s financial records to develop actual exposures and classifications to ensure accurate calculation of earned premium.
- Review policy information and guidelines in preparation for the audit.
- Mange workload efficiently including scheduling appointments and visits with policyholders depending on premium size and location.
- Examine policyholder’s records and operations to determine the correct exposures and classifications per manual rules.
- Prepare audit report including exposure calculations, description of operations, and other guideline requirements.
- Communicate significant changes in operations or exposures as a result of the audit to Underwriting, Accounting, and/or Agents.
- Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of audit rules, guidelines, bulletins, and manuals.
- Assist Underwriters marketing efforts to generate quality new business and proactively manage potential classification and exposure concerns.
- Special projects as assigned by manager.

Your role is critical to our continued success as you'll be responsible for handling, negotiating and resolving multi-line claims across Commercial Auto, General Liability, Property and Inland Marine lines. The claims will include severe injuries and complex bodily injury litigation as well as complex, multi-defendant litigation and some pollution claims. This role will focus on exposures up to the policy limits.
