This position is responsible for setting Berkley Select’s marketing and sales strategy by maximizing the insurance sales efforts through direct interaction with underwriting leadership, underwriting staff, wholesale brokers and agents. This position is responsible for improving the performance of the operation by influencing the underwriting function when it comes to effective sales and marketing efforts that increase revenue. This includes conducting marketing & sales analysis, coaching and development of broker/agent relationships that impact maximizing sales, strengthening communications and working closely with leadership to execute the Berkley Select underwriting strategy.   - Sets marketing and sales strategy that is aligned to the Berkley Select corporate strategy. Work with WRBC Corporate Marketing on branding for WRBC and Berkley Select. - Collaborates with senior leadership to create, implement, and execute annual sales plan with profit & loss responsibility for the wholesale/retail insurance sales strategy. - Collaborate with underwriting leaders to develop specific programs and campaigns to increase insurance sales leads. Support and endorse insurance programs, and design and develop insurance sales promotions. - Works with underwriting units to achieve sales and profit goals by deepening and expanding broke/agent relationships. - Designs and recommends sales programs and sets short- term and long-term sales strategies. - Evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase the department's sales volume. - Recommends product or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to underwriting team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. - Manage broker prospecting and appointment process and oversee new broker/agent orientation process. - Coordinate budget and analyze and interpret financial reports and develop plans to execute on findings. - Work to establish and maintain key association relationships. Serve as the key point of contact with major producers. - Partner with underwriters as needed to coach, provide positive reinforcement, and give constructive feedback  - Work with product development team to provide information to assist in the development of new insurance products by monitoring insurance and market trends, recommending changes or actions as warranted. Work with leaders to refine broker plan on an ongoing basis. - Monitor sales results versus plan, including individual broker results, and provide recommended broker development as needed. Develop necessary analytics, reporting tools and report results monthly. - Coordination for all sales & marketing training, vendor training, and other educational opportunities working with HR to deliver.  - Monitor profitability for all lines of business and determine if there are sales and marketing strategy enhancements needed or change approach required. - Possess and maintain an excellent knowledge of broker/agent guidelines, company underwriting guidelines, insurance rating/pricing through company programs and websites. Responsible for the handling, oversight and overall management of complex professional liability claims, primarily Medical Malpractice.  Experience with Employment Practices Liability (EPL) claims a plus. Recognized as a technical expert in the interpretation of complex or unusual claims-made policy coverages. Under limited management direction, will analyze, coordinate and resolve claims within assigned limits of broad authority.   In addition, the successful candidate may work directly with less senior claim handlers, providing mentoring and coaching support on claims, evaluating requests for monetary authority, providing guidance and direct oversight on more severe claims, assisting with trial and large loss reporting, and handling day-to-day claims questions.   - Manages highly complex investigations of professional liability claims including coverage issues, liability, compensability and damages. Determines if a major claim should be settled or litigated and implements an appropriate resolution strategy accordingly. Effectively manages loss costs and claim expenses. - Manages all types of investigative activity or litigation on major claims, including the posting of appropriate reserves in a timely manner. Coordinates discovery and litigation strategy with  panel attorneys and/or counsel retained by the insured. - Negotiates highly complex settlement packages, and authorizes payment within scope of authority, settling claims in the most cost effective manner and ensuring timely issuance of disbursements. - Makes recommendations on claims processes and resolution strategies to management. - Analyzes claim activities; prepares and presents reports to management and other internal business partners and clients. - Works with attorneys, account representatives, agents, and insureds regarding the handling and/or disposition of highly complex claims. - Provides guidance and assistance to less experienced claims staff and other functional areas. - Interaction and consultation with business partners including underwriting, agents and management regarding industry activity and trends. - Coordinate payment of attorney/vendor claim expenses and fees in a timely manner.

We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join our Business Intelligence team. The ideal candidate has exceptional analytical skills and is adept at solving complex problems and creating elegant business solutions. The Data Analyst assesses basic information needs, designs studies, analyzes results and delivers key findings in support of business leaders. The Data Analyst, with considerable latitude for independent action and judgment, will analyze, design, build, publish, program, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and implement and maintain legacy reports and PowerBI dashboards. Work on multiple projects independently and larger team based projects. Position requires excellent SQL programming skills and experience with the Microsoft BI Stack (SQL Server 2017, SSRS, SSAS), Visual Studio, and PowerBI.   - Code and design SSRS reports, end user dashboards and retrieve Ad hoc data sets from the business intelligence environment. - Collaborate in collecting to define functional requirements, document and contribute to technical design discussions - Provide estimates and plans for report initiatives as requests are obtained from different departments and company stakeholders - Ability to handle multiple tasks and support special projects needs simultaneously. - Use optimized SQL server queries to efficiently and quickly retrieve data. The Underwriting Segment Executive maintains a book of business of their own while leading a team of segment underwriters. The Executive is responsible for the development and execution of the underwriting strategy, working with the segment underwriters to effectively and efficiently meet the needs of our producers and insureds and achieve our financial targets.   This role is critical to the overall success of the Business Segment and provides day-to-day direction to underwriters pursuant to the segment strategy. The Executive will work closely with the marketing department to establish, maintain and strengthen broker relationships, and will work with the actuarial department to evaluate relevant data, and make evidence based decisions. The Executive will work collaboratively across the organization with Claims, IT and Finance to optimize segment performance.   - Evaluates or assesses the business applying for insurance by qualifying accounts; identifying, selecting and assessing risks; determining the premium, policy terms and conditions; obtaining approvals; creating/presenting the proposal to the agent/broker and successfully negotiating deals.  Handles underwriter questions and referrals. - Demonstrates a high level of responsiveness and focus on supporting Brokers objectives through successful negotiations. Develops and maintains the relationship through responsive service, site visits, in person renewal meetings or enhanced knowledge of their customers’ businesses. - Manages a sizable and complex book of business by analyzing the portfolio, identifying areas of opportunity for improved growth, profit and diversification, and executing marketing plans to increase market share with preferred brokers. - Development and maintenance of rating plans, forms and endorsements for admitted business. The ability to craft coverage terms and pricing for non-admitted business.
