The Business Analyst is responsible for performing the analysis required to support the development, maintenance and enhancement of applications used by the company and its business partners.  Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs. Document requirements, tests system functionality, defines scope and objectives, and formulates systems to support key business processes.  Act as a liaison between IT and other business departments.  Key functions include but are not limited to: - Review and analyze project requests to determine impact to existing systems.  Translate business requirements into detailed specifications for use by the IT development staff/external providers. - Analyze and document current workflows, identify opportunities to meet project objectives, business processes, and make recommendations for future approaches. - Utilize user definitions, use cases and workflow diagrams to illustrate business problems. - Identify issues and escalate them as appropriate. - Lead meetings, e.g., business requirements review, testing strategy review, etc. - Actively participate in formal presentations to a variety of management levels. - Perform system/user testing as required; analyze and validate testing results. - Provide support and guidance to other IT personnel in business requirements documentation as well as system/user testing. - Act as a reference and provide support to application users with respect to questions arising from application/functionality adoption and use. - Perform rules authoring as required to support business requirements

Berkley Select is seeking an Underwriting Manager. This position is part of the Management Liability underwriting segment for Berkley Select and supports the achievement of established departmental goals related to profitability, growth, and producer relations.  The position requires developing policy forms, endorsements, risk appetite, underwriting guidelines and driving overall strategy for the Commercial Crime insurance product. The position also requires developing and maintaining brokerage relationships and underwriting individual risks in accordance with guidelines and philosophy for Commercial Crime insurance.   Key Functions will include but not be limited to:   Broker Management - Manage key and/or target broker relationships and expectations. - Communicate underwriting decisions, requirements, and philosophies to brokerage community. - Maintain producer / agency contact log in electronic databases. Underwriting Duties - Develop policy forms, endorsements, risk appetite, underwriting guidelines and drive overall strategy for the Commercial Crime insurance product. - Provide final approval and guidance on risk analysis presented by members of the underwriting department in accordance with authority levels. - Evaluate risk characteristics of submissions to determine business opportunities in accordance with guidelines and company philosophy. - Price, design and recommend policy format for quoted submissions. - Review underwriting documents for accuracy prior to their release to brokers and/or company clients. - Discuss, analyze and interpret Berkley Select policy forms and coverage issues.  Product Development - Propose and/or develop policy forms and endorsements to improve Berkley Select’s competitive advantage in the market. - Provide research assistance in analyzing competitor forms. - Discuss, analyze and interpret changes to competitor forms and underwriting appetites. Leadership Duties - Responsible for the profitable growth of the Commercial Crime insurance product. - Assist in training underwriting team members to achieve efficient and effective underwriting (based on risk and form analysis congruent with risk appetite and underwriting guidelines). Other Duties - Special projects as assigned.

The AVP Actuary is responsible for management and direction of actuarial pricing and product support for Berkley Select. This includes the strategic actuarial leadership for a $200M+ portfolio that centers on Lawyers Professional and Executive Liability for the company.  This position is a key point of contact to Senior Management, internal business units (particularly Underwriting) and external parties. The position is well suited for an experienced ACAS or new FCAS.  Key functions include but are not limited to: - Participates with senior management team at the strategic level to execute goals. - Leads significant actuarial initiatives to grow a profitable business. - Engages business functions with knowledge and expertise to succeed as an organization and differentiate itself. - Works in an Actuarial team environment to support a growing appetite for more sophisticated analytics, strategic insights and practical business guidance to promote profitable growth. - Partners by supporting the business itself and Underwriting in particular by providing actuarial support for new products, rate filings, profitability analyses, key metrics, etc. - Reviews existing products/rate plans once a year with an eye toward: changing rates, rating formulas and/or factors; consolidate plans across legal entities or eliminate plans as appropriate.  - Creates innovative strategies for pricing and rating. - Supports compliance department in the submission of filings to state departments, helping to ensure their ultimate approval and implementation. - Provides support for the actuarial team in Reserving, quarterly Closing, Statutory accounting, and other Accounting/Finance needs. - Creates innovative strategies for Reserving, Reporting and support for Finance. - Could manage staff both directly as well as indirectly.
