The VP, Underwriting Manager will oversee the production and underwriting of Accountants Professional Liability business written by our partner, CAMICO Mutual insurance Co. A successful Underwriting Manager will have the ability to positively influence underwriting behavior at CAMICO and steer our business to consistent profitability.  The role will maintain primary responsibility for the Camico program underwriting function on behalf of Berkley Alliance Managers.     Overall responsibilities include: - Ensure Camico operates within established underwriting guidelines and authorities - Ensure Camico operates within Berkley DP’s filed rating plan - Handle all account Camico program referrals that fall outside the established underwriting guidelines, authorities and filed rating plan - Oversee and facilitate the placement of all facultative reinsurance on the Camico program - Conduct UW audits at Camico four times per year and report findings to Camico and BAM President - Work with Chief Actuary to produce monthly reports showing all Camico production, pricing and referral activity on the Camico program

The Claims Examiner will handle all aspects of claim investigations including, but not limited to, claims and coverage analysis, liability and damages analysis, budgeting and reserve setting, reporting, reinsurance analysis and reporting, and travel. This position will determine the need for defense or coverage counsel on claim or pre-claim files; demonstrate litigation management skills, including cost containment and strategy management; and support and assist with marketing and loss prevention education, including development of educational materials, for assigned product lines, as requested or needed. The role iwll also support and assist functional departments, including marketing, risk management, audit, finance and actuarial, as needed or requested.   Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Adjusting all aspects of claims and loss notices, including but not limited to claims and coverage analysis, liability and damages analysis, budgeting and reserve setting, reporting, reinsurance analysis and reporting, and coverage litigation - Verify and analyze data used in claims investigation to ensure that claims are valid and resolutions are made according to company guidelines and procedures - Identify and present large exposure claims to supervisor and participate in their discussion at claim and underwriting meetings - Attend mediations, settlement conferences, trials and other claims-related travel as needed or required - Support the marketing, risk management, finance and actuarial departments, as needed or requested - Maintain adjuster’s licenses in all states requiring licenses, or as requested - Actively participates in the company’s innovation initiatives - Complete special projects as needed or requested - Conduct internal and external presentations
