Provides administrative support to the claims department that is timely, efficient and representative of the high standards set forth by the company.  Handles billing and payment tasks, assists in the maintenance and handling of claim information and documents, and produces reports.  Provides information and assistance to producers, insureds and defense counsel on claim issues.  The individual in this role works closely with Brokers and Agents to field submissions and clear them allowing the underwriting and underwriting support teams to evaluate for consideration. Administrative and Technical Oversight - Obtain information as necessary from Claims Adjusters to ensure all appropriate data needed for administrative processing and claims management is available and accurate - Assist Claims staff with quarterly and annual Claim related statutory reports - Produce specialized reports for Adjusters and Reinsurers as requested - Scan paper checks/documentation as needed for system maintenance of files - Administer accuracy review for claims administrative staff. Provide detailed feedback on technical processing issues. Conduct testing as needed. - Maintenance of claim files (when necessary) to ensure retrieval. - Provide general administrative support to claims staff, including photocopying, generating correspondence, and faxing Point of contact, as assigned, for technical and processing questions. Claims File Handling - Search Claims system for claim numbers - Handle documentation needed for potential and actual claims, as assigned. - Research and set up new claims in the claim system. - Receive, handle or refer incoming telephone inquiries from clients. - Close completed files. - Department liaison to outside vendors. - Set up new claim files. - Generate Loss Runs and send to producers. - Assist with providing claims detail for credentialing requests Billing Processing - Review invoices for accuracy and pay approved invoices. - Ensure proper documentation is provided to support payments. - Request W-9’s for new vendors and ensure accuracy/completeness of information received - Review payments to ensure duplicate payments are not processed - Secure approval for payments based upon payment guidelines - Send invoices to the Claims system - Monitor deductible amounts & communicate same with brokers, insureds & claim handlers - Provide reports on defense costs metrics, file assignments and panel usage

Under limited management direction, will analyze, coordinate, direct and resolve claims within assigned limits of authority. - Manages complex investigations of professional liability claims including coverage issues, liability, compensability and damages. Determines if a major claim should be settled or litigated and implements an appropriate resolution strategy accordingly. Effectively manages loss costs and claim expenses. - Manages all types of investigative activity or litigation on professional liability claims, including the posting of appropriate reserves in a timely manner. Coordinates discovery and litigation strategy with panel attorneys and/or counsel retained by the insured. - Negotiates settlement packages, and authorizes payment within scope of authority, settling claims in the most cost effective manner and ensuring timely issuance of disbursements. - Makes recommendations on claims processes and resolution strategies to management. - Analyzes claim activities; prepares and presents reports to management and other internal business partners and clients. - Works with attorneys, account representatives, agents, and insureds regarding the handling and/or disposition of highly complex claims. - Provides guidance and assistance to less experienced claims staff and other functional areas. - Interaction and consultation with business partners including underwriting, agents and management regarding industry activity and trends. - Coordinate payment of attorney/vendor claim expenses and fees in a timely manner. - Adheres to all claims practices and guidelines for Berkley Select

As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Chief Financial Officer will report to the President of Berkley Select and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. This position has three-four direct reports. - Provides leadership in the development and continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives. - Ensure credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis and reporting of budgets, financial trends and forecasts. - Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization. - Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/ strategies and regulatory action. - Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives so as to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions. - Provide executive management with advice and analyses on the financial implications of business activities. - Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the Company management and WRBC. - Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities. - Strong presentation skills to various audiences on financial results; this includes WRBC senior management as well as Berkley Select management and employees.
