We have an opportunity for a Summer Intern (Underwriting) to join our Berkley Public Entity team! You will train with key team members to learn and participate in the process of underwriting and servicing of renewal accounts for the development and retention of Berkley Public Entity business. The duration of the internship is approximately eight weeks: June 3, 2024 – July 26, 2024

 

Key functions include but are not limited to:

• Participate in the evaluation and pricing of Berkley Public Entity’s renewal business in accordance with service standards, objectives, and following our underwriting guidelines
• Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as needed to support our business partners
• Career interest in learning the underwriting function within the insurance industry
• Other duties and tasks to be assigned in conjunction with the overall internship experience

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Risk Management and Insurance (or other applicable major) preferred
• A rising Junior or Senior is preferred
• GPA of 3.0 and above required
• Interest in enhancing classroom learning through practical career related work experience within the industry
• Career interest in insurance Claims/Excess and Surplus Lines
• Ability to assess priorities and manage deadlines effectively
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Proven attention to detail, with excellent organizational skills
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite
