Responsibilities

The Network Operations Center (NOC) Analyst will be responsible for monitoring and technical troubleshooting equipment within the Data Center.  This group will handle Level 1 troubleshooting for many areas including:  Windows Server, LAN/WAN Networking, Unix/SAN, Security, Wireless and VoIP.  In addition, this group will be responsible for physical installation of all equipment in the Data Center environment.

  • Will monitor and maintain systems in a 24x7x365 highly available production environment.
  • Provide systems monitoring, reporting, incident handling and troubleshooting of complex technical environments.
  • Excellent Level 1 technical knowledge in one or more areas (Network, Wintel, Unix, SAN, VM/VDI, Security).
  • Monitor ongoing operations and IT infrastructure performance with applications set to anticipate IT service problems (SolarWinds, Fluke, AppDynamics, StruxureWare, etc.).
  • Rack/stack equipment in the Data Center.
  • Maintain and update Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) application – StruxureWare.
  • Monitor and respond to events within the Building Automation System (BAS).
  • Update and maintain documentation associated with processes and procedures (run books).
  • Assist with efforts to identify root cause and recommend solutions.
  • Maintain and update all Data Center design documentation.
  • Work with Facilities to provide Data Center power, cooling and structured cabling requirements.
  • Physical installation (include cable/label) of all Infrastructure in Data Center environment.
  • Coordinate with management all maintenance work scheduled in the Data Center.
  • Identify areas for process and efficiency improvement within the Data Center and Enterprise; recommend prioritized enhancements and oversee implementation.
  • Ensure that systemic issues have appropriate resolution paths.
  • Identify and document root cause for each event.
  • Document and communicate event information using ITSM tool (ServiceNow) and email.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a NOC or a 24x7x365 Data Center environment.
  • Experience in network troubleshooting, process workflow and/or communication skills are preferred.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in planning, organizing, and performing network analytical tasks.
  • Must have very strong problem solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with executives, engineers, vendors and peers.
  • Previous knowledge of SolarWinds, Fluke and Application Monitoring is preferred.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and SNMP.
  • Working knowledge of network commands and tools such as Traceroute, NSLookup, TCPdump and Wireshark.
  • Experience with networks, routers, switches, servers(Win/Unix/Linux), VMWare, SAN, security, wireless, VoIP, etc
  • Experience in the Insurance field preferred.
  • Experience working in an IT organization is preferred.
  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Current or working towards industry certifications such as CCNA, VMWare, SolarWinds, Security, etc. is preferred.
