Responsibilities

The Accounting & Analysis Manager is a hands-on role responsible for management of traditional property and casualty accounting, GAAP financial statement preparation, premiums and deductibles receivable, annual budget and forecasting process, special projects and establishing and maintaining proper internal controls assisting the Controller and CFO in strategic and operational planning.

 

The role supports Nautilus Insurance Group - a dynamic E&S carrier that is  part of WR Berkley corporation  - and has high visibility to the Chief Financial Officer, President and other members of the senior team. The position will be a good fit for a creative and motivated individual with the desire to help drive the future direction of the company.

 

  • Financial Analysis - Working with Leadership Team to perform various financial analysis in support of our initiative.
  • ProjectsPropose and lead special projects across multiple functional areas with minimum direction.
  • Controls – Develop, maintain and continuously improve Company’s financial control environment.
  • Planning and Budgeting - Responsible for the annual planning and budgeting process, as well as quarterly forecasting, for financial information; assist Controller and CFO in strategic and operational planning.
  • Close – Assist in monthly accounting close by reviewing and/or preparing assigned journal entries and deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Property and Casualty Insurance experience is a plus.
  • CPA license and public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and financial software systems required.
  • Must possess the financial sophistication to understand the global impact of proposed business decisions and the ability to step outside the typical accounting role.
  • Must demonstrate superior communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in the organization.
  • Must be committed to working in a team environment as a strategic and collaborative partner.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with external and internal customers, peers, and management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management highly preferred.
