The Sr. Premium Auditor will lead all phases of the premium audit process and audit assigned accounts with optimum accuracy, efficiency and timeliness. The role will audit each account in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring that all clients are provided with the highest standard of customer service and provide operational support as needed to assure efficient operation of the underwriting team.


Key functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform assigned premium audits (virtual and in person), examining financial records pertaining to the stated premium base.
  • Determine from observation and questioning with insured, proper risk classification, premium basis and scope of operations.
  • Conduct well organized audits preparing formal reports of audit results in accordance with established rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Discuss audit results with policyholders and send appropriate correspondence as warranted.
  • Refer changes on classification assignment to Underwriter.
  • Notify underwriter of significant changes in risk exposure in accordance with audit policies and procedures.
  • Initiate confirmation calls to clients prior to appointment.
  • Complete audits or manage the completion of audits within 60 days of policy expiration.
  • Assign audits to third party vendors that will not be performed by BTU and manage the completion and review of all third-party vendor audits.  #LI remote


  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • 5 plus years related premium audit experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • APA designation (Associate in Premium Auditing)
  • Proven knowledge of commercial coverages, rules and regulations
  • Superior attention to detail and organization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, decision making and analytical skills required
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and carry vehicle insurance coverage
  • Must have access to a vehicle to commute to onsite audits
