Responsibilities

The Commercial Auto Property Adjuster is responsible for handling 1st and third-party commercial auto property claims from first notice of loss to file close.

 

While we'd prefer to have this position working from one of our offices we are open to qualified candidates in the Eastern and Central time zones who may be looking for virtual employment opportunities.    

 

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Handle first-party physical damage and third-party commercial auto property claims from beginning to end
  • Assess coverage
  • Investigate and determine liability
  • Negotiate and settle claims
  • Take recorded statements
  • Assign and manage third party vendors such as appraisers and local independent adjusters, as needed
  • Assess total losses per local laws and determent total loss claim value
  • Set accurate and timely reserves
  • Identify opportunities for subrogation and salvage recovery
  • Proactively control file expenses
  • Identify possible fraud and engage SIU for state fraud referrals
  • Communicate with other departments including Underwriting and Actuarial
  • Participate in insurance related continuing education

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required.
  • 6+ years of commercial auto related experience (trucking, public auto or other heavy commercial auto experience preferred).
  • Physical damage and/or cargo experience a plus.
  • Adjuster’s License.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
