Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for a Business Configuration team.  Provides support to business partners through requirements gathering, development, and implementation of software systems.  Determines client and organizational needs, system and operations requirements, legal compliance obligations.  Works with vendor system tool sets to support company specific requirements.  Partners with software vendors to provide technical reviews of designs to insure business requirements are met, clarifies and escalate issue gaps through change control process, contribute to the development of test plans and conversion plans to support customer rollouts.

  • Provides technical supervision of a team. Includes performance management, establishing goals, and development plans - guidance and consulting from his or her Leader.
  • Provides training to lower level associates in the technology practice.
  • Demonstrates senior level technology acumen.
  • Receives overall direction from manager and director level roles.
  • More than 80% of time is focused on a 3 - 12 month planning period and single project durations.
  • Receives direction from managers regarding short term operational and tactical planning.
  • Must be demonstrative in carrying our tasks related to the plans
  • 90% of focus is within the directly managed team. Day to Day communication required with peer associates and teams. 
  • The team lead role is focused on transfer of technical knowledge into the workgroup and development of associate and technical management skills.
  • Technology implementations and system availability impact a number of companies and users.
  • Directs tasks to team members to achieve agreed upon objectives.
  • Closely monitors allocations and costs for internal and external resources.
  • Generates new ideas and consults with Management to improve area of responsibility.
  • Assists team with resolving problems and project implementations - includes development tasks.
  • Primary interaction point is with project managers, technical leads and local team members.
  • Provides technical leadership to small teams.
  • Mentor development of staff in business analysis procedures and best practices
  • Monitor progress of all analysis and configuration work against project plans.
  • Works with business units to understand requirements for Insurance based software products.
  • Applies software application/industry knowledge to develop business functional requirements and prepare or review design specifications.
  • Travel for this position is approximately 10-30%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in related field or equivalent experience
  • 1 – 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Leadership development is the candidates focus.
  • Must have demonstrated the capability of meeting the key accountabilities, or have the ability to learn/perform them.
  • Software Development Life Cycle experience.
  • Exceptional project management and consulting ability.
  • Must be able to analyze business related functions and draft functional requirements and design specifications for supporting those functions.
  • Must be able to make presentations to senior management at Insurance processing units.
  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Four or more years Property and Casualty insurance industry experience required.
  • Consulting skills are necessary including: utilization of skills acquired such as ability to give feedback, negotiation skills, and information gathering skills.
  • Completed INS or equivalent Insurance experience.
  • Knowledgeable of multiple lines of business.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as insurance rating methodologies.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios.
  • Ability to lead personnel, technical, stakeholder, and project initiatives for an application development team.
  • Strong customer service focus that serves as the basis for making decisions.
  • Ability to thrive and produce team results with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Superior problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to interact seamlessly with both technical and business stakeholders at all levels of the corporation.
