This position oversees the claim technical aspects of our Commercial Excess exposure and other product lines as determined by the Chief Claims Officer.  This position will have profound and significant influence over the Commercial Excess and Casualty claim portfolio.  The position has the responsibility to develop the Claims staff in an effort to improve the technical depth of the organization. 

  • Provides technical direction and oversight on the company’s large and complex excess and casualty claims.
  • Follows all large and complex excess and casualty claim files on diary.
  • Reviews all files with large allocated loss adjustment expense exposure.
  • Handles a discreet inventory of the company’s most severe and complex claims including class action litigation, pollution, and large limit excess claims.
  • Designs, develops, and delivers training for the department.
  • Performs internal audit duties.


  • Fifteen years of progressive experience in commercial casualty claims, including experience with multi-million dollar exposures.
  • Experience in managing, directing, and influencing people.
  • Excess and Surplus Lines claims experience are a plus.
  • The successful candidate must be willing to work in the Arizona office.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Law degree preferred.  Prior work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Insurance related designations such as CPCU and SCLA are a plus.
