Responsibilities

Account Executive will be assigned to a particular geographic territory or product category and will be expected to promote profitable written premium growth and favorable loss ratios in accordance with BCIM Best Practices, Underwriting Guidelines, Line of Business risk appetite, and personal Underwriting Authority. (Underwriters) may also be required to oversee the efficiency and effectiveness of other Underwriters and Technical Assistants.

 

  • Evaluation, rating, and pricing of New Business and Renewal risks.
  • Adherence to BXM Best Practices, Underwriting Guidelines, Line of Business risk appetite, and personal Underwriting Authority.
  • Development, maintenance, and management of assigned producer relationships through visitations and regular customer contact.
  • Evaluation of the performance of producer relationships to ensure company and agency goals are met.
  • Awareness and maintenance of personal production and quality measures.
  • Act as liaison with finance/accounting as needed.
  • May also be required to oversee the efficiency and effectiveness of other Underwriters and Technical Assistants.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Understanding of BXM Best Practices, Underwriting Guidelines and Line of Business risk appetite.
  • Ability to make sound judgments based on both written and observed factors where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to effectively write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public,
  • Functional understanding of all required systems and processes.
  • Professional and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly when necessary.
  • Ability to work well with support staff, lead and motivate direct reports and desire to aid in the development of others.
  • Self-motivator.  Ability to work on his/her own.

Qualifications

  • At least 5-7 years underwriting experience in excess casualty business (or alternatively GL business) required
  • Bachelor’s Degree Strongly Preferred
  • Some insurance courses or accreditations, CPCU, ARE, RPLU etc. encouraged (not required)
  • Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU) and/or an Associate in Personal Insurance (API).
  • Strong problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Products including. Specifically Microsoft Excel.
  • Able to multi-task and communicate well
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
  • Adaptability
  • Knowledge casualty insurance coverages, rating procedures, and systems/workflow
