    Responsibilities

    The COE Manager role manages the Center of Excellence (COE) and will be responsible for maintaining Guidewire ClaimCenter for the E&S Segment of W.R. Berkley.  This role Provide project management support and guide internal COE resources and/or external vendors to lead and execute prioritized projects/deliverables for the segment.  Will be accountable for the development and improvement of the COE processes and strategies.  This will require good working knowledge of Guidewire ClaimCenter as well as insurance operations and project management.  This person will provide leadership in the development of internal staff and competencies within the COE to continue to build capabilities of the COE, assess and improve its value.  Will work closely with the team and collaborate with corporate claims executives and staff. 

     

    -Work with Claims to gather requirements and lead requirement workshops.
    -Assist with configuration testing, integration testing and user acceptance testing.
    -Hands on leader providing guidance to staff.
    -Leads and demonstrates value added principles to the team.
    -Develop COE staff to improve skills and the team.
    -Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
    -Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
    -Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
    -Monitor and track progress of deliverables.
    -Ensure resource availability and allocation.
    -Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
    -Continuously monitors and notes risks and issues as they arise and elevates them to management.
    -Perform risk management to minimize project risks
    -Ensures Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to, and is the voice of reason and authority making tough calls.
    -Facilitates discussion and alternatives or different approaches.
    -Brings disclosure and transparency to the business about development and grows trust.
    -Continually grows their craft learning new tools and techniques to manage themselves and a team.
    -Facilitates and documents all scrum meetings including daily stand up meetings, sprint planning and backlog grooming.
    -Supports the product owner and business analyst in backlog management and maintenance.
    -Documents / Grooms the backlog.
    -Drives the sprint and release planning

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of five years insurance project or insurance operational management experience required.
    • A minimum of five years of direct supervisory/management experience required.
    • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
    • Experience working with Guidewire ClaimCenter
    • Insurance industry experience beneficial. (Excess and Surplus lines background helpful.
    • Experience with Azure Dev Ops, JIRA, Confluence and SharePoint beneficial
