    BerkleyMed is looking for an enthusiastic experienced senior accountant to prepare various components of financial statements based on US GAAP and Statutory regulatory requirements.  Responsibilities will also include balance sheet account reconciliations, month-end general ledger close procedures, and company-wide and branch level expense analyzes.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
    • Preparation and analysis of supporting schedules for journal entries in a controlled and timely manner.
    • Participate in the development and maintenance of a chart of accounts and general ledger as well as company accounting policy and administer approved accounting procedures.
    • Create various financial analysis and audit models as requested.  Present findings to managers and/or executives.
    • Responsibilities also include analyzing trends, budgets, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance preferred
    • 3 - 5 years’ general ledger/financial reporting experience required.
    • Experience in the insurance industry preferred and being familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures is a plus – specifically reinsurance, GAAP and Statutory accounting.
    • Proficiency with Word and Excel, and experience with statutory reporting, Hyperion and Oracle PeopleSoft software preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills, professional in attitude and appearance and should be highly attentive to detail. 
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and deliverables.
