    The Regional Sales Director is responsible for the execution of industry leading sales strategies; initiating and developing highly effective sales relationships with customers, distribution resources, and fellow employees. Articulates a sales strategy that consistently provides a competitive edge in the marketplace. Creates tactical sales plans that provide for the profitable growth of respective market segments that consistently deliver on profit and revenue goals. Position requires state of art sales skills, superior knowledge of Union Standard products and services and exceptional influence management skills. Delivers sales success within the framework of Union Standard values.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Identify new customers that fit our appetite
    • Identifies, appoints and develops desirable new agencies as needed for profitable growth.
    • Understand specific industry characteristics of each segment type including key needs and buying patterns
    • Develop and effective execute quarterly Territory Management Sales plans
    • Work with designated distribution resources to develop Agency Partnership Plans for Key and Growth agents
    • Works with designation distribution to address critical areas such as mix of business, growth and loss ratio improvement. Monitors plans regularly and meets with agents regularly to assure that business goals are met
    • Performs semi-annual agency reviews
    • Provide active and leading involvement in point of sales presentations
    • Establish strong producer relationships through high visibility, clear knowledge of company strategy and joint sales planning
    • Help to facilitate working relationships between distribution and underwriters
    • Work with and influence all members of the Union Standard team to exceed customer expectations.
    • Owns the business development process within assigned market area with heavy emphasis on developing a pipeline of profitable business and renewal retention.
    • Assists in the development of proposals for point-of-sale; participates in and coordinates the sales team for point-of-sale
    • Maintain superior knowledge of competitor products and capabilities along with local market trends
    • Shares field intelligence about trends and competitive practices to promote organizational learning and opportunities
    • Demonstrates the ability to build partnerships with other business groups to identify and initiate multiple product solutions at the account level
    • Maintains an understanding of all W. R. Berkley offerings, services and solutions and initiative discussions when appropriate
    • Uses available automation tools to support the sales process and identify opportunities for additional products and services
    • Prequalify accounts that meet underwriting and financial standards
    • Share information with and support the efforts of the Union Standard team to manage distribution resources within an assigned territory
    • Provide active involvement in removing obstacles that interfere with effectively serving customer needs
    • Effectively articulate our vision and work within our values
    • Performs other duties as assigned


    Required Education and/or Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree or related business experience
    • 5+ years' experience in insurance marketing or sales responsibility
    • Preferred Industry designation (CIC or CPCU)


    Required Knowledge Skills or Abilities:

    • Technical knowledge of Property & Casualty Insurance
    • Technical sales and marketing expertise including superior knowledge of selling through intermediaries and distributors
    • Strong business and financial acumen with marketplace knowledge
    • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to close a sale through superior negotiation and influencing skills
    • Ability to effectively present information utilizing platform and facilitation skills
    • Microsoft E-Knowledge
