    The incumbent is responsible for ensuring Berkley Global Product Recall (BGPR) leverages data and technology to support continued business growth globally. This individual keeps a continued focus on technology trends and brings innovation opportunities to BGPR.



    • Provides subject matter expertise across multiple IT domains including infrastructure, data warehouse and information management, quality assurance, support and operations
    • Assists in the development of IT strategy and long-term planning goals that support the overall strategy and goals of BGPR and W.R. Berkley Corporation
    • Leads the development and creation of strategic documents such as project business cases, translation of business requirements into technical requirements, project plans and designing of technical solutions
    • Actively involved in the implementation, testing, communication, and training of new technologies and processes, as they are developed and moved into the various environments
    • Proactively identifies, implements and manages process improvements and agile solutions
    • Leads cross-functional discussions/initiatives to anticipate and mitigate issues and achieve required outcomes within required timeframes
    • Helps identify and evaluate innovative technologies and determine the benefits to BGPR
    • Participate in developing the annual IT budget and ensure that expenses fall within budget
    • Advises departments on IT solutions and purchasing
    • Serves as the primary liaison for interaction with enterprise corporate IT services teams to fully understand the current data structure, identify solutions for efficiency and automation, and ensure all IT related requests from corporate are completed
    • Design and create custom reporting using SQL and other tools to support the business needs; ability to write the code, map data elements across multiple systems and provide technical solutions around data gathering and reporting
    • Manage all system related service tickets via the JIRA system and coordinate with the respective internal WR Berkley systems teams to prioritize and implement actions (Data Services, Berkley Underwriting System, Claimtrak)
    • Ensures software support and licensing contracts are maintained and current
    • Develop and implement IT related policies and procedures and support IT related audits
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of all aspects of position
    • Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned






    Bachelor's degree in an IT related field


    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:               


    3-5 years of direct information technology experience
    3+ years of insurance or financial systems with knowledge of workflow and integrated systems
    Highly refined communication skills including ability to negotiate, build consensus, clearly articulate to technical and non-technical audiences, communicate difficult messages in a professional and productive manner, excellent presentation and facilitation competence and ability to represent IT as a subject matter expert in cross-functional discussions/initiatives
    Ability to build trust and strategic partnerships with assigned business area contacts, project teams and leadership to facilitate two-way communication
    Ability to understand the overall W.R. Berkley and BGPR IT strategy and apply/implement IT strategy in assigned projects/initiatives
    High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy
    Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to new processes and technologies

    Preferred Criteria

    Insurance industry background


    SYSTEMS KNOWLEDGE:                 

    Fundamental working knowledge of Microsoft platforms including SQL Server, SQL Reporting and Analysis Services, C#, ASP.NET, Web Services, Jira, Windows desktop configuration and various other standard desktop and server applications
