Responsibilities

This role, a key contributor within the Berkley Life Sciences organization will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role involves working closely with other team members to support the company's financial operations.

 

In strategic alliance with the CFO:

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to expense accounts and completes corresponding reconciliations.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Analyzes expense variances to budget along with changes throughout the year, in total and by department.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports. Works with the IT team to resolve data inconsistencies.
  • Monitor Corporate “Monthly Close” dashboard for ‘RED lights’ while working with other Berkley accounting staff to resolve intercompany charges.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reinsurance accounting and reporting.
  • Process reinsurance cash and premium adjustments into the FRS system.
  • Assist with monthly review of expense reimbursement submissions using Chrome River database.
  • Assists in the annual planning process with focus on the annual expense budget and preparing budget data uploads to Vena (budget program).
  • Streamline existing manual processes by applying technology and analytics to improve the business process.
  • Ensures that all deadlines are met in accordance with the closing dates set by management.

Qualifications

What you Bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other business-related field, from an accredited institution.
  • 2 + years of financial/accounting experience in a corporate environment, preferably in the insurance industry.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Access, Power BI and exposure to AI capabilities.

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees including:
• Base Salary Range: $70-$85k
