The Investment Accountant is responsible for the accurate accounting, cash matching and reconciliation, and financial reporting of the Company's investment portfolio in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Statutory accounting requirements. The position supports the month-end and quarter-end close processes, performs daily cash matching and reconciliation between custodial records, investment accounting systems, and the general ledger, analyzes investment transactions and holdings, prepares financial reports and disclosures, investigates and resolves cash and accounting discrepancies, assists with internal and external audits, and contributes to process improvement efforts that promote strong internal controls, operational efficiency, and the timely resolution of reconciling items.

Responsibilities: 

• Perform daily cash matching and reconciliation between custodial bank statements, investment accounting systems, and the general ledger.
• Prepare account reconciliations and assist in resolving reconciling items in a timely manner.
• Assist with the analysis of investment activity and prepare supporting schedules for balance sheet and income statement fluctuations.
• Research and escalate investment accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions to management.
• Work with the trade settlement team to investigate and resolve trade, principal, and interest settlement discrepancies.
• Prepare statutory investment schedules, including Schedules A, B, BA, D, DA, DB, and E.
• Assist in the preparation of investment-related U.S. GAAP and Statutory disclosures, supporting schedules, and management reports.
• Monitor and research aged open receivable/payable items
• Prepare bank reconciliations and other investment-related account reconciliations.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for the Company's investment portfolio.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests by gathering supporting documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and other special projects as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 0 to 3 years of investment accounting, accounting, finance, or related experience.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of Pivot Tables, filters, lookups (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP), and data analysis techniques.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and insurance Statutory accounting concepts is a plus.
• Experience with PeopleSoft General Ledger is a plus.
• Experience with PAM for Investments (PAM for Securities) is a plus.
