The Senior Claims Examiner is responsible for managing and analyzing a diverse portfolio of reinsurance claims across multiple lines of business, delivering timely and accurate claim handling, and maintaining strong relationships with cedents, brokers, and internal business partners. The role collaborates closely with underwriting, actuarial, and finance teams to evaluate complex coverage issues, analyze claim developments, and provide insights that support sound business decisions.

 

• Manage a portfolio of reinsurance claims across multiple lines of business, ensuring timely and accurate handling from initial notice through resolution.
• Review cedent claim submissions and supporting documentation to assess coverage, liability, damages, and contractual obligations.
• Analyze and interpret reinsurance treaties to determine coverage applicability.
• Establish and maintain appropriate reserves in accordance with company guidelines and delegated authority.
• Conduct audits at cedent companies to evaluate claim handling practices and clearly communicate audit findings to internal partners and senior leadership.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with cedents, brokers, and internal business partners.
• Maintain accurate claim files and documentation within claims management systems.
• Contribute to a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service excellence.

Qualifications:

 

• 5+ years of claims experience across multiple lines of business, including Casualty and/or Professional Liability.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly present claim analyses and recommendations.
• Ability to build productive relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
• High degree of professionalism, accountability, integrity, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• General knowledge of insurance and reinsurance operations.
• Willingness to travel domestically as business needs require.

 

Education Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Reinsurance (ARE), and/or CPCU designations are a plus.
