Responsibilities

As a Property Risk Consultant, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to affluent homeowners, helping them protect their homes, families, and valuable assets from preventable loss. Through on-site and virtual risk assessments, the consultant identifies vulnerabilities and exposures, educates clients on emerging and common risks, and develops practical, customized loss prevention strategies.

By combining technical expertise with a consultative approach, the Risk Consultant helps clients understand their risks, evaluate mitigation options, and make informed decisions that enhance safety, resilience, and long-term asset protection. The role is focused not only on identifying exposures, but also on influencing action and supporting clients throughout their loss prevention journey.

You'll be an essential partner to Underwriting by validating property characteristics, assessing overall risk quality, establishing accurate replacement cost estimates, and escalating material underwriting concerns that may impact eligibility, pricing, or coverage decisions.

This is a fully remote/work-from-home position supporting accounts throughout Texas. The assigned territory includes the entire state; however, candidates must reside in or near the Dallas or Austin, TX metropolitan areas, where the highest concentration of clients is located.

What you can expect:

  • Culture of innovation, teamwork, supportive colleagues and leaders willing to invest in talent
  • Internal mobility opportunities
  • Visibility to senior leaders and partnership with cross functional teams
  • Opportunity to impact change
  • Benefits – competitive compensation, paid time off, comprehensive wellness benefits and programs, employer funded health savings account, profit sharing, 401k, paid parental leave, employee stock purchase plan, tuition assistance and professional continuing education

We'll count on you to:

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for high-value homes to identify exposures that could lead to property damage, personal liability, or threats to client safety and security.
  • Evaluate risks associated with water damage, fire, electrical systems, severe weather, natural catastrophes, homes under construction, personal security, and other exposures common to affluent homeowners.
  • Deliver tailored loss prevention recommendations designed to reduce the likelihood and severity of loss while improving the resilience of the home and lifestyle.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by educating clients on risks, explaining mitigation options, and supporting informed decision-making.
  • Encourage and influence adoption of loss prevention measures through effective consultation, clear communication, and ongoing engagement with clients and brokers.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging loss trends, technologies, and best practices to provide relevant and actionable risk management guidance.
  • Collaborate with brokers, clients, contractors, and service providers to facilitate the implementation of recommended risk mitigation solutions.
  • Validate and document property characteristics, construction features, protective systems, and occupancy information to support sound underwriting decisions.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain accurate replacement cost estimates to help ensure adequate insurance-to-value.
  • Identify, evaluate, and escalate material underwriting concerns, changes in risk profile, or coverage adequacy issues discovered during the assessment process.
  • Prepare clear and concise risk assessment reports that communicate exposures, recommendations, and underwriting considerations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What you'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in risk management, loss control, underwriting, claims, construction, appraising, or a related property risk discipline.
  • Strong ability to identify property loss exposures and provide effective loss prevention and risk mitigation recommendations.

  • Experience working with affluent clients and a solid understanding of personal insurance products and risk management principles.
  • Proficiency with e2Value or similar valuation platforms.
  • Exceptional communication, consulting, and relationship-management skills.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to influence action, build trust, and advocate for client needs.
