Responsibilities

This Berkley Billing Intern role works with the Berkley Billing Engineering team to understand and implement automated testing and monitoring, with possible exposure to underlying data and a data migration project.

The internship or co-op program provides highly motivated and qualified students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, receive valuable on-the-job training, and deepen their understanding of business and technology in a real-world setting. Participants are fully embedded within their assigned teams, where they contribute to meaningful projects, collaborate with professionals across departments, and develop practical skills aligned with their academic background and career interests. This experience is designed to bridge classroom learning with professional application, offering exposure to industry tools, technologies, and leadership engagement.

We are looking for someone to work with our Berkley Billing Engineering team to understand and implement automated testing and monitoring for us. This person might also be exposed to our underlying data and be asked to help with our data migration project. Key functions will include but are not limited to:

  • Support Technical Operations
    • Assist with troubleshooting hardware/software issues, configuring systems, and supporting installations, moves, and upgrades.
  • Contribute to Projects
    • Work on assigned projects that align with their academic background and team objectives. These may include software development, cybersecurity, data analysis, or infrastructure support.
  • Provide End-User Support
    • Help resolve service tickets, support desktop and laptop users, and respond to technical inquiries with a customer-service mindset.
  • Document and Analyze
    • Maintain documentation for IT processes, assist in testing and implementation, and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate Across Teams
    • Engage with cross-functional teams, participate in meetings, contribute to team goals and shared deliverables.
  • Hands-On Experience
    • Interns are embedded in their teams and gain exposure to real-world IT environments, tools, and workflows.
  • Mentorship & Coaching
    • Each student is typically paired with a coach or mentor to guide their development and integration into the team.
  • Presentation & Reflection
    • At the end of the program, students present their project outcomes and reflect on their learning to BTS leadership.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • College Status: You must be currently enrolled in a degree program related to the field — or have recently graduated with a relevant degree.
  • Typically expected to have completed at least 2 years of college coursework, especially for co-op roles
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written), especially for working with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer service orientation and a collaborative mindset.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies.
  • Strong passion for technology and cybersecurity
  • Prior internship, co-op, or on or off-campus technical experience preferred, but not required
  • Participation in extracurricular or leadership activities.
