Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Claims, the Senior Claims Examiner is responsible for managing all aspects of workers’ compensation claims, including complex and litigated matters, from inception through resolution.

This role actively supports and participates in the company’s culture of continuous learning and innovation, including engagement in innovation groups focused on identifying opportunities for process improvement, enhancement, and transformational change.

 

Our ideal Claims professional will demonstrate strong technical expertise in claims adjusting, claims workflow, investigation, and effective time management. Travel is required approximately 30% of the time. Spanish-speaking adjusters are highly preferred.

 

Key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Adjust all aspects of complex claims and loss notices, including coverage and compensability analysis, reserve setting, reinsurance reporting, and coverage litigation.
  • Attend and participate in mediations, settlement conferences, trials, and other claim‑related proceedings, including required travel.
  • Assist with or conduct large loss handling and reinsurance reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain adjuster licenses and certifications in all required states, and obtain additional certifications as requested.
  • Actively engage in the company’s innovation culture and cross‑functional collaboration initiatives.
  • Demonstrate continued, self‑driven professional learning and development.
  • Travel as needed to support claim resolution and business needs.

 

Qualifications

  • Spanish speaking, is strong preferred
  • BA or BS, preferred not required
  • Adjuster’s certification in California is required, other state licensing/certification is a plus
  • 8 + years claims-related, adjusting experience handling workers compensation claims in California

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees which for this role include:
• Base Salary Range: $110,000 – $125,000
• Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus.

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
