This role will be based in our Urbandale, IA location where we offer a hybrid work schedule with 4 days in the office; and 1 day remote.

Responsibilities

The Regional Rating Manager leads and develops regional rating leadership and experienced team members to ensure efficient, accurate, and consistent rating operations. This role is responsible for managing performance using key metrics, reports, and workload data; identifying trends and training needs; and making informed staffing and resource decisions.

 

The Manager actively monitors work volume and capacity, forecasts growth projections and peak volumes, and collaborates with regional partners to balance workload and share resources as needed to meet service level commitments. Working closely with regional leadership, quality and compliance partners, underwriting, and other business stakeholders, this role supports operational excellence, process improvement, and alignment to corporate goals while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and people‑focused work culture.

We'll count on you to:

  • Direct management of Rating Supervisor and experienced rating team members. Staff management includes hiring and providing coaching, mentoring, and ongoing performance feedback.
  • Manage through effective use of team meetings, operational and performance reports, and key metrics to make data‑driven decisions related to staffing, productivity, training needs, and performance management; proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve results and resource utilization.
  • Actively manage regional resources by monitoring work volume, capacity, and growth projections; forecast workload trends to identify opportunities for regional resource sharing, balancing workload across teams to ensure service level commitments, operational efficiency, and workforce sustainability.
  • Work in conjunction with the Regional Rating Director to facilitate BPO knowledge transfers, monitor KPI performance, and address performance concerns as needed.
  • Maintain strong working relationships and communication channels with all business partners. Participate in Underwriting meetings and agency meetings when appropriate.
  • Work in conjunction with the Regional Quality Review & Compliance Manager to facilitate team training and technical developmental needs.
  • Provide technical support for product development, system enhancements and system bug resolution.
  • Responsible for understanding commercial lines rating, coverages, products and related processes and workflows.
  • Develop and use work management tools to increase operational efficiency and enhance processing consistency.
  • Fosters a positive, collaborative, and accountable work culture by modeling professional behavior, encouraging open communication, supporting team engagement, and reinforcing departmental values in daily operations
  • Understands the business, vision, strategy, guiding principles and other factors that affect Operating Unit success.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of software applications supporting the Regional Rating Team.  
  • Performs all other duties as assigned to support departmental goals and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

What you need to have:

  • 3+ years related experience as follows:
    • 3+ years of commercial insurance rating experience in multiple lines of business.
    • 2+ year of Supervisory and/or Management experience.
  • Proficient in insurance software systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead change with a sense of urgency.
