Responsibilities

The Berkley ESG framework delivers trust to our stakeholders by investing in human capital and communities, incorporating climate risk into our business decisions, and holding ourselves accountable through responsible management and transparent practices. The Director-ESG Reporting supports this framework by overseeing ESG reporting in the annual Sustainability Report and various regulatory requirements. The role will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all ESG-related reporting of the company. This will include having considerable interactions with stakeholders at all levels in Berkley. The successful candidate will be analytical, a self-starter, able to work independently, deadline oriented, and willing to roll up their sleeves to accomplish daily tasks.

 

• Maintain and enhance Berkley’s ESG Framework & Three Pillar Approach
• Gather data for and coordinate Berkley’s annual Sustainability Report
• Work with Enterprise Risk Management and investments teams to perform qualitative and quantitative risk analyses, including long-range scenario analyses, in order to identify and report on climate-related risks
• Calculate annual enterprise-wide greenhouse gas emissions
• Work with Corporate Legal and Compliance departments to monitor changing regulations in various jurisdictions
• Support Berkley Businesses with local regulatory ESG reporting
• Develop necessary governance policies to support regulatory ESG reporting
• Create processes and controls for gathering ESG-related data included in regulatory reporting
• Coordinate internal and external audits or other reviews of ESG information

Qualifications

• 8-10 years in the area of reporting, controlling, finance or similar functions, preferably in the financial services industry
• Knowledgeable in ESG-related disclosures, reporting frameworks, regulations, and industry trends
• Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within the finance area, including internal controls, audit function, and financial reporting
• Requires solid communication skills in order to guide and gather information from others
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a complex and dynamic environment
• Self-motivated with ability to make decisions in absence of detailed instructions
• Strong Microsoft Office skills

 

Education Requirement:

 

• BS in Accounting or Finance, MBA and/or CPA highly desirable.
