Responsibilities

Overall Position Summary

 

• The Security Guard reports to and works closely with the Senior Facilities Manager.
• Responsible for protecting WRBC private property against theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
• Ensures the safety and security of all individuals while on the WRBC Greenwich premises.
• Monitors and reports any potential risks or safety concerns to the operations team to support environmental health, public safety, and risk management efforts.
• Follows established security policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Assists in monitoring the physical 475 Steamboat Road property, including Building Security Systems, CCTV, fire and sprinkler systems, life‑safety equipment (e.g., AED), and other building support systems.
• Conducts regular patrols of the facility and documents observations, incidents, or irregularities.
• Provides assistance to employees, guests, and vendors as needed while maintaining a professional and vigilant presence.

 

Key Duties of the Position

 

• Communication and teamwork are essential to maintaining a safe work environment for employees and protecting critical equipment, building property, and physical assets.
• Supports day‑to‑day security coverage across all operating hours (Mon–Fri 06:00–22:00; Sat–Sun 08:00–16:00; year‑round).
• Provides excellent customer service to employees, guests, and visitors.
• Maintains required certifications and completes all necessary security and system‑related training.
• Collaborates with fellow guards to ensure smooth communication and consistent security coverage.
• Addresses guest questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
• Adheres to assigned schedules and follows established procedures for requesting time off.
• Completes timesheets and required daily reports accurately and on time.
• Communicates relevant updates or issues to the Operations Manager as needed.
• Performs duties in accordance with established Security Post Orders and Building Procedures.
• Provides on‑site security coverage as assigned and remains available during scheduled shifts.
• Prepares clear and thorough daily notes, weekend summaries, and incident logs to support smooth operations.
• Follows procedures related to displaying flags and carries out assigned tasks in the event of inclement weather.
• Follows all office security procedures and participates in ongoing program requirements.
• Adheres to established site security plans, post orders, emergency procedures, and safety checklists.
• Participates in required security training and follows all updated protocols.
• Provides assistance during emergency situations as directed to help safeguard the organization’s people and property.
• Reports security or safety issues impacting building operations and assists in facilitating resolution when appropriate.
• Runs access control or security reports when requested and authorized.
• Reviews CCTV or access control footage for incidents, as directed by Operations Management or HR.
• Follows daily parking procedures and issues temporary or medical parking permits when assigned.

 

Qualifications

• Must have experience as a security guard, police officer, or military police officer.
• Must have a solid understanding of basic security practices and procedures to perform the role effectively.
• Must have training and experience working with electronic monitoring and surveillance systems.
• Team player with knowledge of and adherence to best practices in safety and security.
• Must have strong critical thinking skills and the ability to quickly observe situations and respond appropriately.
• Proven ability to work discreetly with confidential and sensitive information.
• Possesses strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for the position.
• Able to clearly relay information, observations, and security‑related details to colleagues, internal customers, and supervisors.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service and contributes to a safe, positive environment for employees and guests.
• Ability to support and adapt to change as operational needs evolve.

 

Education Requirement 

 

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
