Responsibilities

The League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT) is a governmental risk pool served by Berkley Risk Administrators Co., LLC. This position manages an underwriting territory of complex, high-value municipal accounts. Responsibilities include premium calculation, risk evaluation, policy issuance, and member retention. The role involves analyzing data, designing coverage to reduce losses, and ensuring decisions align with LMCIT Board philosophies.

 

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Review, price, and manage renewal business (multi-line, emphasizing property, general liability and auto).
  • Select, price, quote, or decline new business in accordance with LMCIT guidelines and underwriting judgment.
  • Communicate with agents and members regarding submissions, endorsements, and other service matters.
  • Collaborate with the Underwriting Manager and LMCIT staff on coverage design, rate setting, and strategic initiatives.
  • Work with other Underwriters to maintain response time standards.
  • Maintain relationships with customers, vendors, brokers, reinsurers, and program management staff.
  • Provide guidance to rating and processing personnel.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Underwriting Manager.

May perform other functions as assigned.

Qualifications

The following education, experience and skills requirements are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Minimum two years of professional experience in multi-line underwriting and marketing.
  • Strong technical experience in insurance design, evaluation, and analysis.
  • Knowledge or experience with self-insurance pools.
  • Thorough understanding of commercial lines underwriting standards and rating.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
  • Willingness to travel in-state as required.

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees including:
• Base Salary Range: $65k-$75K

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.

Additional Requirements
