Responsibilities

This role within Berkley Life Sciences Legal Department is designed for a second- or third-year law student seeking a part-time internship during the academic year.  The internship supports a wide range of matters including insurance, contracts, artificial intelligence (AI) governance, and general legal issues.  It’s a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic legal environment while contributing to meaningful projects.

 

Under the guidance of the VP & Chief Legal & Regulatory Affairs Officer

  • Review and draft vendor contracts, confidentiality agreements and other legal documents.
  • Perform legal and regulatory research and prepare comprehensive legal memos and reports.
  • Assist with artificial intelligence prompting and governance leadership, including compliance.
  • Review and analyze policy manuscript form requests for intent, compliance, and clarity.
  • Review and approve various public announcements and marketing materials

Collaborate with other teams and departments to research and advise on legal and regulatory issues unique to insurance and life science customers.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

·       Enrollment in an accredited law school as a second- or third-year student.

·       Bachelor’s degree from an accredited undergraduate institution

  • You’re calm under pressure, highly organized, and known for your integrity and follow-through. You enjoy collaborating across the organization.
  • You have a customer service mindset—responsive, solution-oriented, and able to navigate conversations with professionalism.
  • Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products
  • Knowledge of Lexis Nexis, Westlaw and other legal research tools
