As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for product quality, and performance of the liability claims professionals on your team and supporting the Auto Liability Claims Manager. You may be responsible for maintaining a minor caseload, as determined to be appropriate by the Auto Liability Claims Manager.
Key functions include but are not limited to the following:
• Select, lead, mentor, oversee, plan, and check the daily work of a team of Commercial Auto Physical Damage, 3rd Party PD/BI Liability claims examiners.
• Provide guidance and direction to direct reports through a continuous process of management involvement and frequent claim file review.
• Maintain a supervisor diary on direct report files, as well as a diary for your own files.
• Employ proper claim handling techniques to protect the integrity of the brand and providing consistent service quality and streamlined processes to add value for our customers.
• Recruit and interview examiners as necessary.
• Train & coach examiners as appropriate and necessary to ensure their competency.
• Attend depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre-trials, trials and other legal proceedings as appropriate.
• Potentially maintain a minor caseload in which you handle, review and process claims with the greatest complexity.
• Resolve coverage disputes with insureds and agents as appropriate.
• Negotiate settlements as appropriate.
• Provide performance input on team members.
• Post timely and accurate, loss and expense reserves and reevaluate exposures regularly during the life of a claim. Require and ensure that members of your team do similarly on their assigned claims.
• Adhere and ensure that team members adhere to all statutory regulations, Unfair Claim Practices acts and Best Practices.
• Effectively communicate with all internal and external customers.
• Proactively control the use, work product and expenses of outside vendors.
