Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Subrogation Manager to lead our Property Subrogation and Vendor-Managed Recovery Desk. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in managing complex, high-value property subrogation claims across both commercial and personal lines.

 

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in developing and executing property subrogation strategies, with a proven track record of success in managing complex recoveries and leading a panel of subrogation counsel. This leader will play a critical role in driving vendor performance, shaping claim strategy, and maximizing recovery outcomes through expert oversight and collaboration.

 

Responsibilities:
• Triage and distribute new subrogation referrals to the appropriate personnel.
• Review and discuss claim files, provide direction on action plans, and conduct periodic file audits.
• Communicate clear performance standards and objectives.
• Conduct performance evaluations.
• Create timely and accurate claim/subrogation related reports, spreadsheets, and other documents as requested.
• Assist in developing departmental goals and objectives.
• Provide leadership by selecting, training, developing, and positioning staff to achieve success.
• Occasional travel is required.

 

Qualifications

• Two years claim adjusting or subrogation handling experience.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Advanced knowledge of large loss and complex claim investigations and property subrogation processes (both commercial and personal lines)
• Understanding of insurance policy language, coverage interpretation, and liability assessment
• Knowledge of Tort Law and Arbitration Forums’ Rules and Regulations.
• Proficiency in vendor performance evaluation and scorecarding
• Experience managing subrogation counsel panels and third-party collection vendors
• Ability to analyze recovery trends, loss ratios, and vendor performance metrics
• Experience with claims management systems (e.g. ClaimCenter)
• Familiarity with audit processes and compliance standards
• Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with claimants, insurance representatives, and attorneys.
• Ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions.
• Ability to speak, write, listen effectively, and organize her/his thoughts logically.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to keep pace with a high volume of work.
• Knowledge ranging from basic to advanced, of computer software, word processing, e-mail spreadsheets, and Internet navigation. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, data analysis) and PowerPoint (for reporting and training)

Education Requirement:

 

• High school diploma, bachelor’s degree preferred.
