Responsibilities

Regional Distribution Executives serve as ambassadors to our trading partners. They work closely with production underwriters, the marketing team, and others to drive awareness of Berkley Aspire’s value proposition, business model, underwriting appetite, and product portfolio. Through their knowledge and their efforts – agent/broker visits, representing Aspire at trade shows and industry events, digital outreach and other forms of lead generation and follow-up – Distribution Executives are responsible for promoting Aspire, and increasing the flow of quality submissions.

 

A Distribution Executive has responsibility for a defined geographic region. The “South” region includes Alabama, Florida Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

This role will include:

  • Communicating – in writing, in person, remotely - with appointed agents about new products, product extensions, and product launches.
  • Collaborating with production and renewal underwriters, the marketing team, the executive leadership team, and other Berkley.
  • Encouraging agents to submit opportunities consistent with our underwriting appetite to Aspire.
  • Representing Aspire at meetings with production partners and industry conferences and trade shows.
  • Recommending new tactics and strategies for promoting Aspire and our product portfolio.
  • Providing actionable feedback, business intelligence (i.e., competitors, threats to the business, coverage gaps, rate trends, emerging markets, etc.), and “voice of the customer” insights

Qualifications

  • Insurance industry knowledge gained through formal study, earned designations, and/or work experience
  • Looking for intellectually curious individuals who think creatively and connect dots
  • Insurance and financial acumen
  • Knowledge of the purpose and market drivers in excess & surplus lines
  • Sales or agent/carrier relations experience
  • Willingness to play by the rules, think outside the box, and be data driven most of the time
  • Ability to work with underwriters
  • Professional skills: collaborating, thinking strategically and creatively, listening, analyzing, reflecting, experimenting, planning, tracking progress/documenting results, pivoting when necessary, being mindful of budgets and deadlines, following up, taking responsibility/being accountable
  • Communication (verbal, written) skills: ability to express ideas clearly and concisely; presentation/public speaking skills; ability to persuade and convince our trading partners to change operating routines
  • Relationship skills: bringing energy and positivity to every interaction; developing long-term relationships within Aspire, other Berkley operating units, trading partners, and with industry stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel 50 -75% of the time
