Responsibilities

The Associate Underwriter will work in a team setting underwriting and servicing renewal accounts for the development and retention of our Environmental line of business.

 

  • Production and underwriting of new and renewal account business.
  • Compliance with underwriting documentation rules and guidelines.
  • Maintain an acceptable underwriting profit.
  • Adherence to Berkley Specialty Excess underwriting guidelines and referral compliance.
  • Development and maintenance of key broker/agent relationships.
  • Participates in all internal company training and continuing education.
  • Remains current on product releases as it pertains to Environmental line of business.
  • Attends strategic marketing calls to key brokers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Prior work experience 2-3 years in Risk Management, Environmental or Insurance industry(s) preferable.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a collaborative team player and ability to relate and communicate with all members of the organization.
  • Basic knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Completed coursework toward a Risk Management, and Insurance Degree a plus.

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees which for this role include:
• Base Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000
• Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus.
• Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Wellness, Paid Time Off, 401(k) and Profit-Sharing plans.

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
