Our Claims Adjusters have a passion to resolve issues, discover win/win solutions, and keep up with the fast- paced environment of Verus. Responsible for the resolution of higher complexity and high exposure claims. The position will have increased responsibility for decision making within their authority and work with minimal oversight under general direction from their manager.

 

• Confirms coverage of claims by reviewing policies and documents submitted in support of claims.
• Analyze and assess applicability of coverage and drafting of coverage positional letters.
• Conducts, coordinates, and directs investigation into loss facts and extent of damages.
• Directs and monitors assignments to experts and outside counsel.
• Evaluates information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of insured's exposure.
• Sets reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to manager.
• Negotiates and settles claims either directly or indirectly.
• Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.
• Adheres to Fair Claims Practices regulations.
• Participates in special projects or assists other team members as requested.
• Travel to mediations, trials, and conferences as required.

• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent industry experience and training.
• Minimum 5 plus years' Excess and Surplus Lines experience handling Commercial General Liability claims including Construction Defect claims. 
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Proficient in MS Excel and Word.

This position can be fully remote for candidates outside a commutable distance to our offices based in Glen Allen, VA or Scottsdale, AZ with a hybrid schedule—four days in the office and one remote day, as appropriate.
