Responsibilities

As a member of Berkley Management Protection’s Company’s Actuarial & analytics team, you will focus on providing effective leadership and analysis to ensure the successful achievement of the company’s business objectives.

 

You will focus on leveraging the company’s data assets to deliver actionable and meaningful business insights using analytics and predictive models. With data-based decision making as one of our core cultural pillars, this role will promote and continue to build analytical toolkits that provide actionable insight to the team. You will also play a critical role in designing, pricing and filing new and innovative insurance products.

 

  • Create and maintain accurate and dependable financial reporting for the organization, which adequately reflects the financial condition of the company.
  • Assist with determination of loss and loss adjustment expense Incurred but not Reported (“IBNR”) reserves for all lines of insurance.
  • Conducts rate review, ratemaking, rate adequacy and price monitoring processes to achieve profitability and growth targets.
  • Develop and implement predictive models and other analytical tools.
  • Perform data, statistical and trend analysis.
  • Delivers the actuarial perspective and spreads the analytical mindset in a credible manner.
  • Collaborates on the long-range planning and forecasting of the company to maximize company performance over time.
  • Product Design and Development: design state rate, rule, stress testing and product filings.
  • Understands business and the factors that affect its success.  
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with underwriting and other teams as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of industry developments, particularly those which impact his or her area(s) of responsibility.

Qualifications

Requires in-depth knowledge of actuarial concepts and methods regarding rate and reserve analyses. Must be able to develop studies and recommend changes based on such knowledge.

 

Requires a college degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or finance as well as a minimum of five years related experience in property and casualty insurance. ACAS designation is required, FCAS designation is preferred.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math/statistics, Economics, finance or other related disciplines
  • ACAS designation is required, FCAS designation is preferred
  • 10 years of experience developing strategies, managing major initiatives and delivering results within a complex matrix environment
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams
  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals
  • Demonstrated successes in product management and technology modernization initiatives
  • Experience leading teams through changes in processes, tools, techniques and organization
  • Experience in predictive modeling, bridging pricing to analytics
  • Experience reserving and pricing management liability is a plus.

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees including:
• Base Salary Range: $140-180k
• Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus
