Responsibilities

This position is responsible for assisting the department in maintaining accurate and timely financial information and documentation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reconciling premium and loss data from feeder systems, recording and IBNR, delivering on GAAP and STAT regulatory reporting deadlines. Accountabilities also include assisting in the completion of audited financial statements and data requests related to external audits and state examinations. Supporting the overall close process to ensure that all reporting requirements are adhered to.  Assist in project work as assigned.

 

  • Responsible for accurate preparation of journal entries in accordance with the monthly close schedule
  • Complete technical account analysis and data checks for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and complete the underwriting schedules for quarterly and year-end statutory reporting
  • Responsible for balance sheet reconciliations and exhibits monthly
  • Assist in research of GAAP and STAT accounting policy changes and implementing changes to comply with reporting requirements
  • Document and archive records to satisfy audit and statutory requirements
  • Assist in project work as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance

Qualifications

  • Four (4) year College Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, or commensurate experience and training
  • CPA, preferred
  • 1-3 years of relevant insurance accounting experience, including strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles. Knowledge of Statutory accounting is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolves problems quickly
  • Knowledge of finance systems and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. PeopleSoft is a plus.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities and processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic Financial Analysis skills

The actual salary for this position will be $70,000-80,000 and determined by a number of factors. These include the scope and complexity of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary bonus program.
