Responsibilities

The Senior Litigation Specialist, Claims is responsible for the handling and management of moderate to significant severity General Liability, Automobile Liability and Professional Liability claims involving schools and other public entities.

 

Reviews and applies coverages based on policy language and endorsements including coverage analysis, investigation and resolution strategy. Indemnity and expense reserves should be timely and appropriate applied. continually reviewing and analyzing all aspects of the claims process to conform to industry best practices.

 

  • Review, oversight, and specific handling of General, Automobile, and Professional Liability claims including Law Enforcement and Sexual Abuse involving schools, municipalities, other public entities.
  • Insured and broker contact to secure additional claim information, communicate loss information, and work collaboratively with insureds and brokers on claims within their Self-Insured Retentions and/or Deductibles.
  • Communicates all necessary and appropriate claims developments to BPEM underwriting and senior management as appropriate.
  • Ensures all large loss and exposure reporting requirements are met, and appropriate claims are referred to BPE management, as well as WR Berkley management.
  • Identifies issues and trends in the portfolio; take appropriate and/or corrective action where necessary; communicate trends to underwriters, insureds, and brokers.
  • Willing and able to travel for mediations, insured meetings, trial and conferences as necessary.
  • Lead audit from start to finish.
  • Successfully handling mediations virtually and in person.
  • Large Loss Reporting and coverage position letters content and error free.
  • Handles Professional Liability claims that are assigned with minimal assistance.
  • Handle a pending of approximately 150 General, Automobile and Professional Liability claims.
  • Defense Counsel Management.
  • Timely Reinsurance Reporting and Updating

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of commercial liability claims experience required.
  • Insurance Claims litigation experience preferred.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • An analytical mind enabling you to dive into the details to be effective with problem solving.
  • Excellent customer service- being known for your super responsiveness, operating with a sense of urgency to get to “yes”, and being able to say “no” while preserving relationships.

 

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees which for this role includes:

Base Salary Range: $105,000 - $115,000

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.

Eligible to participate in the annual discretionary bonus program.
