Responsibilities

  • Review new and renewal commercial insurance risks in the Small Business Transportation Program, working with Motor Carrier, General Liability, and Motor Truck Cargo coverages, forms, underwriting, and risk assessment
  • Determine the accurate classification of business, policy contract forms, and risk pricing; review and act upon pertinent risk information such as loss control reports, motor vehicle reports (MVRs), loss runs, and financial statements.
  • Responsible for book management of an assigned agency territory, including achieving predetermined premium goals and profitability objectives, conducting audits on agency business, effectively communicating the company underwriting philosophy, and assuring compliance with underwriting best practices.
  • Cultivate effective agency relationships in collaboration with the Distribution team; conduct agency visits, communicate expectations, and make recommendations for agency action(s) when appropriate.
  • Provide guidance to Associate Underwriters in technical underwriting matters, including, but not limited to, such procedures as coverages, cancellations, exclusions, endorsements, and non-renewal action.
  • Assist in developing new products, coverage enhancements, and procedures that drive production and processing efficiency.
  • Learn and execute on Workers Compensation, Cyber Risk for future development.

 

May perform other functions as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of related commercial auto (trucking preferred) underwriting experience
  • CPCU designation preferred
  • Must have experience writing motor carrier insurance auto in multiple states
  • GL, Workers Compensation, BOP or CPP experience desired
  • Familiarity with FMCSA and Federal DOT financial responsibility requirements including processing.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with internal and external stakeholders and customers.
  • A self-starter who can manage time effectively and work within a demanding, challenging, and ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently but collaboratively.
  • Regularly and consistently demonstrates a commitment to company values and guiding principles.

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Base Salary range: $60k - $110k
• Benefits: Health, Dental, Annual Bonus Potential, Vision, Life, Disability, Wellness, Paid Time Off, 401(k) and Profit-Sharing plans.

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
