Responsibilities

We have an opportunity for a Software Quality Assurance Analyst to join our Berkley One team! You will be responsible for analyzing functional and technical requirements, estimating QA work, writing/executing test cases to verify stated and implied requirements, tracking defects through to resolution and helping lead the effort toward test automation.

 

This role can be based in any of our offices in: Morristown, NJ; New York, NY (Manhattan); Wilmington, DE, Boston, MA; or Chicago, IL.  We work in the office 4 days a week, and 1 day remote.

Key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Ownership of quality - from product definition to product implementation
  • Understand business context, analyze business requirements, functional specifications and detail design documents
  • Estimate testing effort and challenge estimates of teammates
  • Identify and develop easily maintainable test cases to ensure thorough, repeatable testing that will validate requirements and includes all phases of testing
  • Conduct end-to-end testing through multiple applications
  • Identify and document all defects in a clear and concise manner owning them through to resolution
  • Assist with leading test automation effort from the ground up
  • Conduct peer review of test cases
  • Assist QA leadership with guiding team where needed while still completing your own assignments on time
  • Report progress to QA leadership and project team
  • Identify and articulate process improvement recommendations that will increase quality and/or efficiency

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Software Quality Analyst preferably in the insurance domain, will consider other industries as appropriate
  • Strong knowledge of testing principals and techniques      ·       ·       
  • Experience with QA automation frameworks
  • Agile experience with tools such as JIRA
  • SQL experience preferred.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, a communication style flexible to the situation and able to communicate clearly and with a purpose
  • Calm under pressure, possessing excellent organizational skills, integrity and follow-through on tasks
  • A strong sense of accountability and ownership   
  • Natural curiosity, a love of learning how things work and always on the lookout for innovative improvements

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees including:

• Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000
• Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
