Responsibilities

The AVP Sales Manager will be the sales manager over sales Account Executives who specialize in producing small business over assigned geographic territories in the US.  Account Executives are located in Overland Park and/or remote their assigned territories.  The Sales AVP will also be responsible managing our large account salespeople (Regional Account Executives), who lead efforts in producing and servicing large accounts.  

 

Key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Lead assigned sales executives to achieve new business production goals
  • Collaborate with other leaders to meet goals, set strategy, and create better products/services.
  • Train and develop salespeople to drive better results
  • Analyze strategic data to build processes and structure to create success short and long term within the sales department.
  • Continue to learn and become a risk management expert in our insurance lines of business and industries we serve.
  • Lead sales meetings and sales training meetings to foster success with the sales organization
  • Build relationships with clients and prospects to foster great knowledge and trust with clients and their brands.
  • Assure that assigned sales executives assist in our service and retention of our customers.
  • Ability to have analytical communications internally and externally. Discussing loss trends and premium implications for a book of business or for individual large insureds.
  • Collaboration with the IDI Leadership Team to identify opportunities for growth, innovation and improved customer service.
  • Work closely with our marketing team to strategize on best approaches and investment.
  • Aligned objectives and goals with the CSA and Underwriting teams to promote cross collaboration and mutual success
  • Working knowledge of our CRM and assure processes are followed by all sales executives.
  • Develop and implement appropriate sales strategy in conjunction with the SVP of Sales.
  • Provide vision and leadership to the Sales organizations in accordance with the established strategy
  • Cultivate a culture that excels in collaboration and accountability
  • Lead the development, implementation and continuous planning of all sales programs, metrics, processes, results and initiatives
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, CSAs, Marketing and other stakeholders to ensure knowledge sharing on market trends, brand changes and risk management developments
  • Leverage resources, technology, and processes to drive sales effectiveness
  • Assist SVP of Sales in creating the Sales annual operational goals, objectives and budget
  • Attracting ‘A’ talent to the department
  • Supervise, audit and analyze the effectiveness of agreed upon metrics of team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Insurance designations preferred
  • 15 years of commercial P&C sales experience
  • 5 years of sales management
  • Track record of sales production and growth
  • Must be located in Kansas City for in-office leadership, while traveling to the field to train sales people and interact with customers/prospects
  • Embraces innovation and continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively present to small or large groups.
  • Team player, positive by nature!
  • Approximately 20% travel required.
