We have two entry level openings for Claims Trainees to join our Berkley One team!  Our trainees will learn all about the insurance claims practices by participating in formal classroom, self-study and on-the-job training rotating through both property and casualty claims. This training leads to a working knowledge of high-net-worth personal lines claims practices, policies and guidelines; technical expertise in property and casualty claims; and exemplary claim service delivery.

These positions will be based in our Wilmington, DE office (4 days in the office, 1 day remote)

 

Key functions include but are not limited to:

 

Develop industry knowledge:

• Develop broad knowledge of the insurance business, marketplace and economics
• Demonstrate broad understanding of W.R. Berkley and Berkley One company operations, strategies, financial performance, and competitive advantages

Build claims knowledge and expertise by learning to:

• Appropriately manage claims through coverage analysis, investigation, reserving and resolution
• Identify and address coverage issues, complete investigation to determine cause & exposure, set timely reserves and develop detailed action plans
• Establish validity of claims submitted for payment through coverage research and contact with policyholders, claimants and outside parties
• Research and locate additional information and documentation to investigate, evaluate and properly resolve claims
• Write coverage position letters, Reservation of Rights and other correspondence
• Maintain an effective diary system and document claim file activities in accordance with established procedures
• Pro-actively manage file inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases
• Other projects and work as assigned

 

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
