Responsibilities

The TAG Associate Underwriter will support the profitable portfolio of Trade Artisan General Contractors (TAG) business by learning TAG coverages, policy forms, and the processes by which our business is administered.  This role will demonstrate functional knowledge of underwriting and producer relationships and understand our approach to managing our relationships with clients and producers.

 

The successful candidate will provide technical support to underwriting staff for TAG business, participate in various underwriting and educational activities, and be responsible for:

  • Organizing, analyzing, and inputting relevant underwriting information into all systems.
  • The preparation, quality control review and issuance of quotes, binders, and policies.
  • Deciding to decline a submission.
  • Organization and maintenance of Account files in all systems.
  • Organization and maintenance of approved broker lists and Surplus Lines Licenses.
  • Organization and maintenance of approved external document cataloguing.
  • Following up with brokers for subjectivities of binding.
  • Issuing Notices of Cancellation and processing endorsements.
  • Executing Broker of Record protocols.
  • Soliciting renewal submissions if applicable.
  • Review submissions and apprise underwriting staff of any discrepancies, inconsistencies or need for clarification or follow-up.
  • Monitor email correspondence and effectively triage electronic correspondence and requests from underwriting staff, brokers, and insureds.
  • Execute special projects in pursuit of enhanced operational excellence, delivery of valuable external marketing materials, and portfolio analysis reporting.
  • Self-study in pursuit of appropriate designations as defined by management.
  • Follow TAG underwriting guidelines and request and file authority approval.

The successful candidate will assist Underwriters with tasks including:

  • Processing binders, policies, and endorsements
  • Organizing and maintaining account files, broker lists, Surplus Lines Licenses, and external document cataloguing
  • Following up with brokers for binding subjectivities
  • Issuing Notices of Cancellation, endorsements, Cot letters, and other legal documents
  • Executing Broker of Record protocols
  • Monitoring and triaging email correspondence from underwriting staff, brokers, and insureds
  • Executing special projects to enhance operational excellence

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • Strong computer skills with solid knowledge of MS Office Outlook, Word, Excel and working knowledge of PowerPoint.
  • Previous Insurance experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to identify, gather and organize information and articulate salient findings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to learn and leverage new software applications and technologies.
  • Effective communication and people skills.
  • Possess a strong business acumen.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to be resourceful.
  • Demonstrated leadership characteristics.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal direction.
