Responsibilities

We have an opportunity for an Auto Regional Product Manager to join our Berkley One team! As a key member of the Product Team, you will develop and introduce new or enhanced pricing and product strategies, manage product performance, and help us build our regional product management practice.  You’ll work collaboratively with various stakeholders including underwriting, actuarial, state filings, compliance, and IT while interacting with external entities including vendors and state insurance departments.

Key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Manage states to meet profitability and growth targets 
  • Understand the assigned markets, develop specific state strategies related to price, coverage and underwriting that lead to profitable growth, and are compliant and competitive in the marketplace  
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, notably Actuarial, Analytics, Underwriting, Legal, IT and Agents, to strategically address needs as they relate to the product 
  • Measure the impact of product changes and key initiatives to ensure the implementation matches what was planned or expected 
  • Manage ongoing product performance, research market trends and competitor actions and make relevant recommendations to ensure continued success 
  • Assist with evaluating usage/effectiveness of third-party data and in researching and developing new product solutions 
  • Define detailed product requirements; work with Product Analysts to ensure policy administration systems are programmed according to established requirements 
  • Other projects as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5+ years of personal lines P&C experience with minimum of 2 years product management experience
  • Experience with a High Net Worth carrier and auto coverages preferred
  • Strong familiarity with insurance contract design, including ISO and others
  • Empathy and understanding of the needs of customers, both insureds and their agents alike
  • Serve as pro-active advocate for Berkley One customers and passionate about their brand and coverage experience
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with a communication style that is flexible to the situation; able to communicate clearly and with purpose
  • Thrives under pressure, exceptional organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to juggle competing priorities
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Natural curiosity, a love learning how things work and always looking for innovative improvements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
