Responsibilities

The AVP, Claims Leader is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the claims operations for our construction and professional liability portfolios. This role requires a strong understanding of complex claims, a strategic mindset, and the ability to collaborate across teams to drive excellence in claims handling. The AVP, Claims Leader will work closely with senior management, underwriting teams, and external partners to ensure our claims processes align with the company's strategic goals.

 

  • Claims Leadership: Lead a high-performing claims team by providing mentorship, guidance, and expertise to ensure timely and efficient claims resolution, focusing on construction and professional liability claims.
  • Strategic Oversight: Develop and implement claims management strategies that align with corporate objectives, focusing on cost-effective, compliant, and customer-focused claims processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with underwriting, actuarial, and legal teams to evaluate risk and ensure effective claims mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Claims Analytics: Utilize data-driven insights to analyze trends, improve claims outcomes, and develop proactive approaches to emerging risks.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with external vendors, including outside counsel and adjusters, ensuring quality service and cost management.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all claims operations adhere to industry regulations and internal compliance standards, staying up to date on legal trends affecting construction and professional liability.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to enhance claims efficiency and accuracy, focusing on leveraging technology and best practices to streamline processes.
  • Customer Focus: Foster a customer-centric culture within the claims department to ensure excellent service delivery and maintain positive relationships with insureds, brokers, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Law, or related field is preferred (Advanced degree or JD is a plus).
  • Minimum of 10 years of claims experience, with a strong background in excess and surplus lines, focusing on construction and professional liability.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing claims teams and driving results in a high-volume, complex claims environment.
  • Expertise in claims handling, litigation management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.

Proficiency in claims management systems and technology platforms.
