Responsibilities

The software engineering team focuses on the development, and support of a customer-centric, insurance product suite. As a Software Development Engineer, you’ll be an integral member of a team that builds and customizes in-house and third-party software, delivering an efficient and seamless experience. You’ll deliver quality code that enables the team to design highly scalable solutions within a multi-tenant architecture and standardize common functionality.

  • Work collaboratively and individually to contribute working code that the team has committed to deliver, according to the project’s contribution guidelines.
  • Review and offer constructive feedback on others’ code.
  • Be an active collaborator in regular technical planning sessions.
  • Propose technical and process improvements that will help the team deliver better and faster results, and innovations that will delight the customer.
  • When needed, assist other team members in completing tasks. Elevate team accomplishments over individual completion.
  • The engineer in this role builds on previous experience to help the team deliver more durable solutions and solve problems faster.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years’ experience in enterprise software development
  • 2-4 years’ experience with OOP languages such as Java
  • 1-3 years’ experience developing, designing, and querying SQL databases
  • 1-3 years’ experience building scalable micro services, using REST and/or GraphQL
  • 1-3 years’ experience writing test scripts and automated testing with tools such as Katalon
  • Familiar with CICD processes and pipelines with tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps
  • Familiar with cloud development and principles, using technologies like Azure or AWS
  • Familiar with front-end development, using JS frameworks like NextJs, React, Angular, Express, etc
  • Ability to align product and business concerns with engineering
  • Demonstrated experience assisting, and participating in peer reviews with other developers
  • Well versed in all phases of the software development lifecycle
  • Well versed in Agile or similar methodologies

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience
