Responsibilities

Conduct/coordinate audits of policyholder operations and business records to determine the proper classifications and exposures to be used in determining the policy’s final earned premium. Work closely with underwriting, brokers and others to complete premium audits correctly and in a timely manner. Position will also be responsible for ensuring audit aligns with policy language and will book audits within the Vela Underwriting System.

 

  • Conduct audits of policyholder operations and business records in accordance with Vela Premium Audit Guidelines.
  • Document all contacts and pertinent information within our premium audit application.
  • Review/calculate audits returned from outside audit vendors in accordance with Vela Premium Audit Guidelines.
  • Review disputed audits and revise as necessary.
  • Review policy to ensure audit aligns with policy language.
  • Book audit within the underwriting system.
  • Communicate with other team members, departments, brokers, vendors and insureds to properly complete audits.
  • Communicate with Supervisor and/or Manager regarding activities and problems within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Four (4) year College Degree, or commensurate experience and training.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized and analytical.
  • Advanced computer skills; proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent time management skills – must be able to multi-task and meet set time standards.
  • Must be a team player with good communication skills.
  • Possess an understanding on how basic financial statements are prepared and presented.
  • Prior insurance and / or premium audit experience a plus.
