Responsibilities

As a Regional Product Manager (Personal Lines P&C Insurance), you'll be a key member of our Product Team, developing and introducing new or enhanced pricing and product strategies, managing product performance, and helping us build our regional product management practice.  You’ll collaborate with a variety of stakeholders including Underwriting, Actuarial, State Filings, Compliance, and IT while interacting with external entities including vendors and state insurance departments.

We'll count on you to:

  • Manage states to meet profitability and growth targets
  • Understand the assigned markets, develop specific state strategies related to price, coverage and underwriting that lead to profitable growth, and are compliant and competitive in the marketplace 
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, notably Actuarial, Analytics, Underwriting, Legal, IT and Agents, to strategically address needs as they relate to the product
  • Measure the impact of product changes and key initiatives to ensure the implementation matches what was planned or expected
  • Manage ongoing product performance, research market trends and competitor actions and make relevant recommendations to ensure continued success
  • Assist with evaluating usage/effectiveness of third-party data and in researching and developing new product solutions
  • Define detailed product requirements; work with Product Analysts to ensure policy administration systems are programmed according to established requirements
  • Creatively solve problems and enhance current processes
  • Other projects as assigned

Qualifications

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of Property & Casualty insurance experience 
  • 2+ years of Product Management experience
  • Meticulous work quality and accuracy of all forms, filings, documentation and other work
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to identify trends, communicate results and take action
  • Working knowledge of insurance regulation and related business constraints
  • Incredible empathy and understanding of the needs of our customers, both insureds and their agents alike; a strong, pro-active advocate for Berkley One customers and passionate about customer brand and coverage experience

What makes you stand out:

  • Experience with Personal Lines/High Net Worth carrier
  • Strong familiarity with insurance contract design, including ISO and others
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; a communication style that is flexible to the situation; able to communicate clearly and with a purpose

  • Natural curiosity, a love learning how things work and always looking for innovative improvements

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees including:

• Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000
• Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus
• Benefits include: Health, dental, vision, dental, life, disability, wellness, paid time off, 401(k) and profit-sharing plans

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
