Responsibilities

We have an opportunity for a Sr. Manager, Databases and Reporting to join our team! We are adding this new role to our Information Technology department for a candidate who is passionate for building structure out of ambiguity with a keen eye for accuracy.  This new position will be instrumental in helping close deficiency gaps that pertain to consistency, reliability, security, and accuracy of databases, extract-transform-load (ETL) solutions, and both graphical and paginated reports.

 

You will lead and inspire a team of three data analysts/engineers, and be accountable to drive the definition, execution, and delivery of a strategic roadmap pertaining to data analytics and reporting.

 

This position will be based in our Hamilton, NJ office (4 days in the office, 1 day remote)

Key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with the AVP of Information Technology to broadly assess current state of IT’s catalog of existing databases, ETL solutions, and reports, and then build and execute upon a roadmap that achieves the desired future state
  • Direct day-to-day work assignments to a team of three data analysts/engineers that aligns to the overall IT portfolio of work, ensuring an appropriate balance between project assignments and operational clean-up work
  • Perform MS SQL Server database(s) design and deployment activities, including the development and tuning of table relationships, indexes, standardizing table and field naming conventions, and appropriately applying field-level encryption/decryption to protect personal information (PI) / personal health information (PHI) data at rest and in transit
  • Strengthen the overall data infrastructure foundation while reducing legacy technical debt
  • Ensure solution requirements are well documented, formal change control procedures are followed prior to deployment, and source code is appropriately registered in the company repository
  • Create and maintain ETL packages using MS SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Apply and maintain appropriate role-based permissions for databases and reports
  • Build and manage the Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes
  • Implement processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is accurate and available
  • Translate business requirements into sustainable and efficient visualizations and reporting
  • Perform data analysis required to troubleshoot data related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues
  • Document work and updates technical documentation and end-user job aids
  • Assist stakeholders with data-related technical issues
  • Perform root-cause analysis, identify, and resolve data reporting issues in a timely fashion

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Business, or similar field; or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years experience designing, implementing, and supporting database and reporting solutions
  • 5+ years experience directly supervising teams sized at 3-5 employees/contractors
  • Significant experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Structured Query Language (SQL), and Transact-SQL (T-SQL)
  • Significant experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and Microsoft Excel
